The Opportunity at Volta Charging

As a Lead Software engineer at Volta Charging, your primary responsibility would be to support the Station Software Engineering team and contribute directly to various programs supported by the Station Platform.

You will also be responsible for establishing and improving on best practices for the Software Engineering team at large, alongside your peers on other teams.

Where you fit in:

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers on the team, helping them learn and adopt new technologies and best practices.
  • Backend Development: Taking a leading role in developing and maintaining the Station platform and services that support Volta's EV charging and Media platform
  • System Management: Work with the team to design new strategies for managing a distributed network of edge compute devices
  • Integration with Station Hardware: Collaborating with hardware teams to integrate software with EV chargers, cameras, and other sensors with services deployed on both the Station and Cloud Platforms
  • Code Review and Quality Assurance: Conducting code reviews to maintain code quality and consistency across the development team.
  • Technology Research: Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in Node.js, server technologies, and best practices, and evaluating how they can be applied to enhance Volta's platform.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Working closely with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, product managers, and DevOps, to deliver cohesive and high-quality solutions.

What we need from you:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience leading a team of engineers with a variety of skills
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Typescript, or Go, and the ability to write clean, modular, and maintainable code.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, such as code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD).
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and the ability to design and manage container-based workloads.
  • Knowledge of networking and security principles, and experience implementing and managing secure cloud architectures.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Empower the Station Software Engineering team to deliver on services that directly impact revenue streams for the business
  • Directly contribute to business critical applications running on the Station platform including our edge-based Ad Tech solutions
  • Experiment with and implement new Ad Tech functionality across our distributed network
  • Become a champion for excellence on the Station team and across Software Engineering
  • Evolve Volta’s technology stack to leverage new and emerging technologies
  • Become a mentor for other members of the team

Volta is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.

The pay range for this role is $187,700-$250,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.

The total compensation package for this position may also include discretionary performance bonus, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
