Job Description

Becoming part of the VIDA Product team means joining on a journey of challenging work at the intersection of technology and social impact. As a (Senior) Product Designer (d/f/m) you will use your strategic mindset and strong design expertise to shape our product from concept to shipping and beyond.

Your responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end design process: Own the design process from initial ideation, research, sketches, wireframes, prototypes to final UI design, ensuring the best possible user experience.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with engineers, founders, and other stakeholders to ensure design vision is realized, user feedback is incorporated, and implementation is flawless.
  • Drive user-centered design: Conduct user research and testing to understand pain points and needs, and utilize the insights to iterate and refine design solutions.
  • Maintain & evolve design systems: Establish and oversee the design systems, ensuring consistency, scalability, and ease of use, and updating as needed based on evolving user needs and brand guidelines.
  • Present design solutions: Articulate your design decisions, present them to stakeholders, gather feedback, and iterate to improve.
  • Mentor & guide: Provide guidance, feedback, and mentorship to junior designers, helping them grow and ensuring the overall quality of the design team's output.
  • Stay updated: Keep up with the latest design trends, tools, and technologies to ensure our products remain relevant and innovative. In this role, you will become part of our Product Design team (currently one UI/UX Designer) and report directly to our CTO.
  • 5+ years of experience in UI/UX or product design roles, designing, testing with user, and presenting user flows, wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Proficiency in Figma and maintaining living design systems with other designers.
  • Extensive experience collaborating with diverse, cross-functional teams throughout iterative product development cycles.
  • Exceptional ability to grasp and exemplify product-oriented thinking, storytelling, and design craftsmanship.
  • A deep understanding of user-centered principles, skillfully incorporating both qualitative and quantitative research techniques to validate solutions.
  • Strategic sharpness, with a deliberate and purposeful approach to design decisions, skilfully integrating user, business, and technical considerations into the design process.
  • Experience applying a metrics-focused approach to measure design impact and effectiveness.
  • Experience working in an agile context and understanding how UX/UI integrates into the development lifecycle.
  • Fluency in English (spoken & written). Nice to have:(s)
  • Experience with SaaS/desktop applications.
  • Experience working with map-related/sustainability-oriented products is a plus.
  • A degree in a design-related field, or supplementary studies pertinent to design, coupled with extensive hands-on experience in product design. We're looking for a candidate who is based in Germany, Europe or Africa.
