Job Description

Becoming part of the VIDA Product team means joining on a journey of challenging work at the intersection of technology and social impact. As a ( Senior) DevOps Engineer (d/f/m) you will help us build and operate our infrastructure, as well as support the development and deployment workflows of our teams. You will join a growing team and have a chance to shape our overall platform strategy and enrich our best practices.

Your responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain our infrastructure and the workflows to provision our environments using automation tools such as IaC
  • Collaborate with our other teams to design and implement tooling that enables our delivery, such as CI/CD pipelines, by following a product-first mentality
  • Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting and logging systems to watch over the health of our infrastructure and our platform.
  • Implement disaster recovery and backup solutions to ensure business continuity
  • Contribute to our security strategies and best practices
  • Collaborate with our other teams on the performance and scalability requirements of our infrastructure, while keeping an eye on optimizing our costs
  • Collaborate with our other teams on incident management strategies and processes
  • Be a mentor and a role model when it comes to DevOps best practices WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • You love the cloud. You already have some years of experience under your belt (Ideally 5+). You're very familiar with 1 or more cloud providers (ideally GCP) and know your way around to setup and provision all kinds of resources, while also following best practices. You have a few ideas on what's the right tool for each job and can also offer suggestions on how to keep costs low.
  • You can package an application. Whether it's a Docker container inside a Kubernetes cluster, a Serverless function, or a single page application, you can support them all in their journey to serve our users, and can often recommend the best approach for each case. You're well versed in tools like Terraform and Helm. You're in your element when it comes to terminals, shells and scripting languages.
  • You know how to deliver. You can tell your CI from your CD, and you can not only implement pipelines as needed, but you also have good opinions on the ideal workflow. Experience with GitLab is a plus.
  • You're a sharp observer. You have enough experience working with tools in the observability arena (such as Grafana, Datadog, Sentry, etc). You love metrics and can offer great recommendations for things like productivity, stability, performance and efficiency. You've helped implement SLOs and SLAs before
  • You can keep the lights on. You know how to deal with incidents and debug issues. You have some familiarity with security best practices. You know how to be prepared for different traffic patterns and workloads.
  • You're a great communicator and team player. You're comfortably fluent in English. You're used to working remotely with distributed teams in an effective manner. Your communication is clear and engaging, and you know how to keep others in the loop. You're used to documenting your work and sharing knowledge with others. You appreciate the importance of cultivating warm and respectful relationships.

    Nice to have:(s)

  • You've implemented DevOps practices and processes on previous teams
  • You've implemented incident management processes before
  • Strong expertise on a particular area (such as Security, Databases or other areas)

We're ideally looking for a candidate who is based in Spain, Germany, the Netherlands or United Kingdom. Candidates based in Africa as well as all other European countries are welcome to apply as well.

  • Tech & Tools: We understand the importance of having the right tools to empower your work so you are free to choose the device you work most efficiently with.
  • Development budget: Use your budget of 500€/year for your own development.
  • 28 vacation days.
