Job Description

Who we are

Tetra is leading the clean energy transformation by adding transparency and efficiency into a forgotten industry. Home improvement contractors are left in the past, lacking automation and technology to run and scale their small business. This leaves homeowners without the necessary information to make easy, fast decisions and creates a painful buying process.

Homeowners are also unaware they can reduce carbon emissions and lower their utility bills. We provide the most efficient and affordable options to homeowners, improve their experience, and coordinate the installation of home improvement projects. In doing so, we're “super powering” contractors by automating admin tasks and allowing them to focus on installation excellence and customer happiness.

We’re starting by transforming heating and cooling replacements for property owners, a $120 billion industry which makes up 12% of total energy usage in the US. Federal and state governments allocate billions of dollars in incentives to help homeowners choose high-efficiency systems—now at unprecedented levels thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022—but the dollars are historically underutilized due to lack of customer awareness. We’re democratizing and unlocking those incentive dollars starting in our home state of Massachusetts, and soon expanding to many new markets.

About the role

With our significant early traction and Seed round co-led by Lerer Hippeau, Gutter Capital, Greycroft, and an angel syndicate of industry and startup gurus, Tetra is looking to make our first full-time Talent and People Operations hire. It will play a key role in enabling us to reach our ambitious goals, while helping to shape our still-evolving culture.

It’s primarily responsible for bringing in the talent we’ll need to scale to new markets and build technology that redefines procuring HVAC services. It will also own building our foundational People Operations infrastructure.

Our 25-strong team is mostly based near Boston and New York City, but we’re distributed across 8 states (and 4 countries) and work remotely. This role can be based remotely or in our NYC office and will report to Tetra’s Chief Operating Officer.

The impact you'll have

  • Lead our efforts to attract, assess, and onboard talent for 20-25 new roles this year—mostly in Sales and Operations, and several in Engineering. This will extend to other areas as our needs evolve, including Marketing, Product, Design, and Finance.
  • Be a thought partner to founders, team leaders, and hiring managers across the org to ensure we’re thoughtfully and intentionally scaling the business, with capacity and culture always top of mind.
  • Oversee the effective administration of our HR programs across the organization, including benefits, compensation, dispute management, employee onboarding, and performance reviews.
  • Own the Tetra employer brand and help show why we are a great place to work.
  • Work closely with our Leadership team to keep a pulse on our team’s engagement and be responsive to their needs.
  • Assist in planning team events and offsites.

Who you are

  • You have at least 5 years of recruiting experience, preferably including technical and non-technical roles.
  • Some People Operations experience is a major plus. The idea of building out onboarding processes, engagement surveys, and performance review systems excites you.
  • Startup experience is essential, since you’ll be building from close to scratch with a high degree of autonomy. You’ll need to be comfortable driving projects from ideation to completion and getting the input or buy-in you need along the way, without requiring lots of direction.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary with meaningful equity.
  • Unlimited PTO policy.
  • Fully paid parental leave.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
  • Opportunities for career advancement and professional growth in a dynamic and innovative company.
  • Collaborative work environment that encourages creativity and innovation.

Diverse perspectives

We know that innovation thrives on product teams where diverse points of view come together to solve hard problems. We seek people that bring diverse life experiences, educational backgrounds, cultures, and work experiences.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
