Job Description

Who we are

Tetra is leading the clean energy transformation by adding transparency and efficiency into a forgotten industry. Home improvement contractors are left in the past, lacking automation and technology to run and scale their small business. This leaves homeowners without the necessary information to make easy, fast decisions and creates a painful buying process.

Homeowners are also unaware they can reduce carbon emissions and lower their utility bills. We provide the most efficient and affordable options to homeowners, improve their experience, and coordinate the installation of home improvement projects. In doing so, we're “super powering” contractors by automating admin tasks and allowing them to focus on installation excellence and customer happiness.

We’re starting by transforming heating and cooling replacements for property owners, a $120 billion industry which makes up 12% of total energy usage in the US. Federal and state governments allocate billions of dollars in incentives to help homeowners choose high-efficiency systems—now at unprecedented levels thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022—but the dollars are historically underutilized due to lack of customer awareness. We’re democratizing and unlocking those incentive dollars starting in our home state of Massachusetts, and now preparing to expand to new markets.

About the role

With our significant early traction and Seed round co-led by Lerer Hippeau, Gutter Capital, Greycroft, and an angel syndicate of industry and startup gurus, Tetra is finally ready to prove that our model has the potential to scale across the nation. We’re looking to bring on an all-around business athlete to lead that charge

This role will be our flag bearer into new markets. It will require someone who can learn extremely quickly and resourcefully, constantly adapt to new information, and communicate exceptionally well with homeowners, contractors, and our team.

Our 25-strong team is mostly based near Boston and New York City, but we’re distributed across 8 states (and 4 countries) and work remotely. This role, while based wherever you call home, will require significant travel to and several months based in each of our new markets, likely to include Greater NYC and LA this year. You’ll report to Tetra’s Chief Operating Officer.

The impact you'll have

  • You’ll be at the forefront of how we learn about new markets. The details of this will matter immensely, whether on HVAC system types, how housing characteristics impact the installation process, customer preferences, contractor needs, state/local incentives, and much more.
  • You’ll creatively uncover insights and develop the framework for how to measure and report them. This might mean mystery shopping, customer research, spending time with contractors, or deep diving on very specific HVAC challenges.
  • You’ll translate those learnings to our leadership team, as well as our product and operations teams, and turn them into concrete plans to launch and scale.
  • You’ll personally take charge of closing our first customers and handholding our first 20-30 installs through to completion.
  • You’ll work with our technology teams (Product, Design, and Engineering) to ensure our software is properly suited to each new market, whether customer-facing, contractor-facing, or internal.
  • You’ll help us make our first Sales and Operations hires in each new market, then ramp them up into the kind of expert you’ll have already become.
  • Then you’ll prepare to do it again in the next market.

Who you are

  • You have at least 5 years of experience in a highly fast-paced environment. Startup experience in Sales and/or Operations is key. If you excelled in consulting but got bored because you want to be “in the weeds” and have a huge impact on a company’s trajectory, this could be the role for you.
  • You love solving problems. You don’t get stressed out by them, you correctly recognize them as fuel for progress, roll up your sleeves, and get to work.
  • You are energized by spending time with people, and also enjoy taking a step back to process what you’re learning and distill it into a clear plan.
  • You want to build the playbook for your role, rather than having one handed to you.
  • You’re an exceptional communicator, whether that’s navigating a homeowner through a stressful project, building natural rapport with a contractor, or presenting to a room full of people.
  • Any direct or indirect experience (e.g. through a family member) with HVAC or home services is a major plus, but not a must.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary with meaningful equity.
  • Unlimited PTO policy.
  • Fully paid parental leave.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
  • Opportunities for career advancement and professional growth in a dynamic and innovative company.
  • Collaborative work environment that encourages creativity and innovation.

Diverse perspectives

We know that innovation thrives on product teams where diverse points of view come together to solve hard problems. We seek people that bring diverse life experiences, educational backgrounds, cultures, and work experiences.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
