TITLE: Senior Director, Nuclear Quality Assurance

LOCATION: Bellevue, WA, USA

Senior Director, Nuclear Quality

The Senior Director of Nuclear Quality Assurance will lead the overall management, direction and implementation of the TerraPower Nuclear Quality Assurance programs for our reactor projects. Reporting directly to the TerraPower President & CEO, the Senior Director will lead a diverse team of experts to develop and implement quality policies, QA Manuals, procedures, and processes for the organization. They will have full responsibility for fostering the development of the Quality Assurance Programs and team. They will have a significant role in compliance issues and the promotion of quality leadership and compliance in accordance with applicable quality assurance requirements, federal laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide collaborative and inclusive strategic leadership and oversight of Quality Assurance/Quality Control functions and processes

• Build, lead and operationalize productive, cross-functional team by attracting, developing, and retaining the best talent, in order to drive long-term value

• Serve on Compliance, Safety and other needed committees

• Lead team in execution and analysis of internal audits and assessments as well as supplier audits, surveys, surveillances, evaluations and inspections.

• Support implementation of quality assurance program in projects

• Oversee team responsible for maintenance of evaluated suppliers list, receipt and fabrication inspections.

• Develop and appropriately delegate project-specific quality plans and procedures

• Review and approve Quality and technical related documents.

• Provide Nuclear Quality technical experience and direction.

• Drive knowledge use throughout company to foster kinks between knowledge sharing and core quality processes to facilitate seamless exchange of information.

• Lead quality related continuous improvement and lessons learned efforts and training

• Seek out and leverage industry quality management program best practices

• Develop and manage data analytics metrics and trend analysis for quality programs

• Provide ongoing status updates to executive management with recommendations for performance improvement on quality goals and objectives

• Communicate issues relating to policy, procedures, programs and assessments/audits.

• Work with Finance on developing and maintaining QA department budgets and expenses. Support Engineering with the development and implementation of Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) plans.

• Support Engineering with non-safety related with special treatment (NSRST) criteria per NEI-18-04 (Non-LWR Risk Based Safety Classification Guidance Document) for the appropriate SSCs.

Key Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in nuclear QA/QC, Engineering or relevant scientific or technical field with equivalent work experience considered

• 25 + years of progressive experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control leadership roles

• 15 + years of experience leading, developing and engaging a team of direct reports

• 15+ years of experience managing quality systems, Corrective Action programs, Quality Assurance Audits, Nuclear Supplier Quality subject to the requirement of NQA-1, 10CFR50 Appendix B, NUREG-0800, NRC Guides, Letters, 10CFR830 and DOE O 414.1 as applicable

• 10 + years of experience with Quality Control/Inspection programs

• Demonstrated record of sustainable safety performance improvement

• Previous experience working with engineers and scientists in a laboratory and/or nuclear plant facility

• Ability to work and partner effectively in cross-functional team initiatives and company goals.

• Ability to understand financial implications of business decisions

• Demonstrated organizational, business and planning skills.

• Ability to build and maintain relationships and to build consensus to achieve objectives.

• Demonstrates ability to be a creative, team oriented and hands-on leader able to ‘work with team in the trenches’

• Provides innovative solutions to complex and ill defined problems

• The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork

Job Functions

• Work Conditions: Stairs, typing/keyboard, standard and/or sitting working environment of >8 hrs./day

• Travel required: 10-25%

TerraPower’s technology is controlled for export by various agencies of the U.S. Government. TerraPower must evaluate applicants who are foreign nationals (other than asylees, refugees, or lawful permanent residents) in accordance with U.S. Government export control requirements. Salary Range L14: $213,397 - $289,401

*Typically, our employee salaries are within .90 – 1.0 of the mid-point of the posted salary band. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual’s qualifications and experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
