TITLE: Senior Commercial Paralegal

LOCATION: Bellevue, WA

Senior Commercial Paralegal

Energetic and experienced Senior Commercial Paralegal will deliver high-quality services and work with other professionals on a fast-paced legal team. The individual must be self-directed with demonstrated professionalism and a true desire to develop an effective working relationship with colleagues and have the ability and judgment to manage end to end processes with little supervision. High energy, flexibility, confidence, integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality and the ability to interface with clients and co-workers in a professional, approachable, and positive manner are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Provides dedicated programmatic support for the TerraPower lawyers) and will report to the Senior Corporate Counsel.
  • Prepares drafts of agreements, including confidentiality agreements, and other documents and handles both routine and first line non-routine contract review and negotiations (including confidentiality agreements) in consultation with the TerraPower lawyers.
  • Provides end-to-end processes primarily for procurement contract and confidentiality agreement reviews.
  • Creates and formats documents electronically including letters, memos, status reports, presentations (PowerPoint), spreadsheets (Excel), and other related documents.
  • Provides legal support for TerraPower government contracts and grants and associated compliance requirements.
  • Prepares updates to and provides administration of legal policies and procedures in consultation with the TerraPower lawyers.
  • Provides support for the creation of, and updates to, standard contract templates for TerraPower’s business.
  • Files, tracks and updates a variety of business and legal templates and documents.
  • Understands the nature of the business in order to provide value-added service and enhance working relationships.
  • Facilitates daily contact with TerraPower lawyers and other TerraPower personnel via email and phone.
  • Coordinates with TerraPower lawyers to meet business objectives and the TerraPower legal department’s goals and objectives.
  • • Manages external work with outside lawyers and others regarding matters on which the TerraPower legal team is working.
  • Initiates and sustains continuous improvement in TerraPower contracting advice, negotiations, templates, drafting, implementation and management, undertaking negotiations and contract management when needed.
  • Initiates and implements technological improvements to streamline legal review and support.
  • Determines priority and responds appropriately and coordinates communications with stakeholders. Makes recommendations as needed regarding appropriate action and follow-up.
  • Conducts legal and other research as requested (electronic and other resources), creating deliverables ready to share directly with the other functions within TerraPower.
  • Provides back-up support to TerraPower lawyers and other legal team members.
  • Tracks and coordinates other matters for the TerraPower legal team.
  • Participates actively in group meetings to understand short- and long-term goals of the legal team and the business.
  • Coordinates communication and service requests from various parts of the TerraPower business.
  • Assists Senior Corporate Counsel in preparing and delivering best practices materials and training to TerraPower organization as part of new employee orientation and on other matters.
  • Performs other tasks and projects as requested from time to time by the TerraPower lawyers and in support of the TerraPower business.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • 10 plus years or equivalent level legal support experience, preferably in a fast-paced and challenging environment in a company.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; additional professional certifications, up to and including a J.D. is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with contracting, corporate and legal principles required.
  • Familiarity with intellectual property and licensing a plus.
  • Experience providing programmatic successes across and in support of organizational success, including technology improvements for the legal function
  • Ability to make solid business decisions, manage end-to-end processes, think ahead, problem-solve, and multi-task in a highly dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work in a team setting and conduct and present oneself in a highly professional manner and with integrity in dealing with both internal and external clients and personnel.
  • Proven ability to exercise high degree of confidentiality and objectivity.
  • Proven ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to receive and provide constructive feedback on work performance.
  • Ability to accurately keyboard at 50+ wpm.
  • Scrupulous attention to detail and excellent drafting and proofreading skills.
  • High level of proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint; familiarity with SharePoint a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, filing, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to execute a high volume and broad scope of tasks.

Job Details Salary Range Level 9: $95,414 - $143,122
*Typically, our employee salaries are within .90 – 1.0 of the mid-point of the posted salary band. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual’s qualifications and experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
