About The Role

We currently have an opening at our Foothill Ranch, CA (Orange County) facility for a Senior Design and Analysis Engineer. This position is a cross competency position participating in a variety of disruptive projects currently being developed by TAE Technologies. Nuclear fusion, cancer curing particle accelerators, and innovative electrification of various vehicles are currently being developed. This position will coordinate and participate in the design and analysis based on substantial mechanical engineering knowledge and experience. General knowledge of material selection, structural integrity assessment, heat transfer, and basic electromagnetic theory are helpful to achieve the goals of the position. This is a full-time position.

  • Collaborate with Physics and Operations groups to clarify requirements.
  • Complete scoping design and simple analysis of large experimental systems.
  • Complete detailed analysis of design and present resulting design direction for large experimental systems.
  • Provide technical analysis direction for engineers and analytical staff.
  • Capability of verifying computational analysis results through analytical methods such as hand calculations.
  • Assisting the design team with material selection and engineering specifications.
  • Write and/or review design criteria and analysis assessment reports.

About You

  • At least 8 years of industrial experience in design analysis for large components, steel structures or pressure vessels.
  • Fundamental Knowledge of large size Structural analysis.
  • Focus on Design and Analysis
  • Ability to perform design by analysis using relevant design codes, such as ASME Pressure Vessel Code.
  • Able to work independently, as well as a member and coordinator of a team.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities effectively and have proven decision-making skills.
  • Capable of reading engineering drawings.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to participate in team meetings and give technical presentations to small groups is required.
  • Basic CAD knowledge with tools such as SolidWorks or Catia is required.
  • Knowledge of common material in heavy equipment design.
  • Familiarity with fusion or fission nuclear power is a plus.
  • Experience in large research and development projects is required.

Education

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering
