About the Role:

We currently have an opening at our Foothill Ranch, CA (Orange County) for a Senior Control Engineer BESS.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proficiency in an object-oriented language such as Go, Python, Java, or C++ used to produce and deploy innovative and robust control software with clean and well commented code.
  • Ability to create robust system designs and detailed documentation including complete and detailed documentation, flowcharts, diagrams, and test plans.
  • Familiar with PLC IEC 61131 Object Oriented Programming.
  • Control systems will integrate diverse hardware components for electrical infrastructure projects (not limited to BESS, EVSE, meters, protective relays, and supervisory controller).
  • Debugging / troubleshooting electrical communication and control system (not limited to controls, instrumentation, data communication, and electrical wiring).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful hardware integration and system compatibility.
  • Perform field commissioning and start-up activities, traveling to project sites to ensure successful implementation and functionality of the integrated hardware components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during commissioning, providing timely solutions to keep projects on schedule.

Required Education & Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in programming and integrating different hardware components, with expertise in Object-Oriented Programming (minimum 5 years).
  • Understanding of Modbus, DNP3, CAN bus, SunSpec, IEC 61850 GOOSE, OCPP, FlexRay.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail to ensure precise control system functionality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct field commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites for commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Bonus: Experience programming ComAp, Woodward, DSE, and other.
