Job Description

The Opportunity

The People and Culture Advisor is responsible for acting as a partner to Symend managers and to help guide, implement, and communicate HR programs, and initiatives, such as compensation, policy development and more.

They work collaboratively across the HR function to support our People programs, as well as deliver value-added service to leaders and employees. The People Partner understands the business and the strategic direction of the organization, as well as the function and goals of their assigned client groups, including an understanding of the client group’s strengths, challenges, and team culture.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular meetings with front-line managers. Provide guidance and coaching on tactics to enhance employee and leadership effectiveness, retention, performance management, training, and career development and succession planning.
  • Act as a partner to leaders to help develop, guide, implement, and communicate P&C programs and initiatives that align with company priorities.
  • Manage and help to resolve complex employee relations issues.
  • Partner with the P&C Coordinator to advise employees on more complex questions regarding people, policies, and processes.
  • In partnership with the P&C team, develop, implement, and analyze the effectiveness of people operations, programs, and practices that foster growth, innovation, engagement, and organizational effectiveness which align with business strategies in areas including on-boarding, compensation, performance management, employee engagement, off-boarding, development, training, and more.
  • Lead the implementation of a new HRIS, developing plans, preparing data, and designing and delivering training for employees and leaders.
  • Conduct compensation reviews and provide compensation recommendations for new roles and promotions.
  • Complete exit interviews, providing coaching and feedback to leaders.
  • Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Abilities, and Skills Required:

Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business, or any other related field.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience preferably with 2 years of advisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resources disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and employment legislation.
  • Prior Experience leading human resources initiatives.
  • Experience with change management design and execution would be an asset.
  • Experience with a distributed teams and international employees, particularly US employees would be an asset
  • Prior experience in a fast paced, high growth tech company will be an asset.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, or related software.
  • Proven experience in influencing leaders into the adoption of ultimately beneficial people management policies and procedures.
  • Successful problem-solving experience leading to lasting employee relations solutions within a business.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, be able to be discreet when dealing with confidential information and have an ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, result-oriented, and an ability to work stay calm under pressure and in uncertainty.
  • Must also be likeable and relatable, having an ability to form strong connections with others, earning their trust, and hence being able to influence leaders in the business.
  • Familiarity with the following technologies an asset: Lattice, Teams, Slack
