Job Description

Solid Power is seeking a ​Safety Specialist​ to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next‐generation, all solid‐state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast‐paced, collaborative and innovative team environment. The preferred candidate must ​be a creative, motivated, and dedicated teammate who demonstrates the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold company safety policies, practices, and procedures.​

Job Duties:

  • Participates in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of company-wide safety compliance programs.
  • Advises the company regarding safety protocols and procedures, ensuring the safety of its employees, the environment, as well as regulatory compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE).
  • Supports and conducts complex incident investigations, provides root cause analysis, identifies and recommends mitigation strategies to correct unsafe conditions.
  • Performs process and job hazard analyses as well as workplace safety risk assessments.
  • Supports and verifies completion of pre-startup safety review process tasks.
  • Drives the completion of corrective actions from environmental, safety and health hazard inspections of company facilities.
  • Assists field operations personnel with tasks related to hazardous waste program.
  • Responds to emergency situations involving hazardous materials, fire and smoke incidents, or unknown hazards to resolve immediate health and safety concerns.
  • Ability to serve as a member of the company Emergency Response Team.
  • Supports and leads safety committee meetings and initiatives to help drive forward a culture of safety accountability throughout the organization.
  • Supports and administers training programs to educate and inform the workforce on workplace safety.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as Environmental Science, Chemistry, Occupational Safety and Health or a related field.
  • 2 to 5 years of work experience in EH&S field, industrial capacity preferred.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce safety programs and protocols.
  • Perform workplace safety investigations and ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards.
  • General knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations, protocols, and/or procedures.
  • Investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions. Identify patterns in data.
  • Advise management on the cost and effectiveness of safety and health programs.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a laboratory or chemical manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Work successfully as part of a team and independently.
  • Ability to travel between Louisville and Thornton facilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to wear respirator protection.
  • This position will require routine bending, walking, stooping and kneeling.

Salary Range: $61,000 - $98,000/annually
