Job Description

Position Overview:

Solid Power, Inc. is seeking a Process Equipment Engineering Intern to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. This position will be a key member of the Powder Production Team for the transition of Solid Power’s current electrolyte production technology to mass production. The Equipment Engineering Intern will be responsible for the management of spare parts, assisting the Equipment Engineering Team with troubleshooting equipment failures, and supporting the development of the maintenance program for new powder production equipment. This individual will develop preventative maintenance protocols/frequencies, spare parts requirements, and assist with the organization of equipment documentation for new production equipment.

Job Duties:

  • Assist the Equipment Engineering Team with equipment commissioning and start-up.
  • Manage the spare parts inventory for all powder production equipment at SP2; involving the interaction with equipment suppliers for sourcing.
  • Support development of preventative maintenance plans for powder production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures or deficiencies with other Equipment or Project Engineers, and provide corrective actions.
  • Support the development of equipment indexing for end-to-end life cycle documentation on powder production equipment at SP2.
  • Support equipment proposals and drawing reviews.
  • Verify equipment tagging in the field with as-built P&IDs.
  • Update P&ID drawings based on process field changes.
  • Presentation of an end-of-internship look back on project work completed.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Pursuing a Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering Degree from an ABET accredited college/university.
  • Able to work onsite throughout the internship and commit about 20 hours per week during the spring semester.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Industry experience in a materials production environment is a plus. Knowledge of processing in scale or manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SOLIDWORKS is preferred.
  • Familiarity with interpreting electrical diagrams, P&IDs, BOMs, and equipment general arrangement drawings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in developing positive working relations with other engineers, scientists, and operations personnel.
  • Willingness to learn.

Hourly Compensation: $22-$24/hour
