Job Description

Sol Systems is an independent power producer committed to building and operating clean energy infrastructure that benefits communities for the long term. We develop, finance, and own solar and storage projects across the United States and partner with utilities, corporations, and local organizations to deliver responsible energy solutions.

Sol Systems is seeking a Construction Intern to support the Construction Team. The intern will serve as a Project Coordinator and work closely with Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Construction Managers, the Quality Manager, and Project Controls to track and manage deliverables under project contracts (EPCA, PPA) to substantiate major milestones. The intern will implement the use of our trackers and build upon those as we identify gaps.

Key responsibilities:

  • Track project deliverables through construction phases.
  • Maintain an organized project data folder of key project deliverables and keep project tracker up to date.
  • Support the Project Management (PM) Team in review of invoices.
  • Support the PM Team in tracking delivery of Owner Furbished Equipment (OFE) to project site.
  • Attend project meetings, take notes, and follow up on key action items with external parties.
  • Coordinate review and approval of key project tests with the PM Team, Quality Manager, and Commissioning Manager.
  • Work with Project Controls to ensure regular and timely updates to project financials and schedules for EPC and OFE spend.
  • Work with the Project Management Team to continue building and improving upon internal tools in Smartsheet.

A successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Interest in renewable energy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to take initiative in a team environment
  • A major in Engineering or Construction is preferred
  • This role is open to current rising undergraduate juniors and seniors

Location & Hours: This is a full-time summer internship (30–40 hours per week) based in Washington, D.C. The internship will last approximately 8–10 weeks. Interns will be expected to work in the office three days per week.

Commitment & Compensation: This is a paid internship, with an hourly rate of $20–$25, commensurate with experience.
