As we enter a new phase of growth, we are looking for a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to continue on this journey with us and lead a small team of design engineers.

THE ROLE
As a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the product development process by leading a small team of Mechanical Design Engineers as well as being (hands-on) involved in the design and development of Skytree products. Leveraging your extensive experience, leadership skills and technical expertise, you will contribute to the innovation and optimization of mechanical designs, ensuring they meet the highest standards of functionality, reliability, and manufacturability.
You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced start/scale-up environment and foster agility and adaptability in the face of shifting priorities and technical challenges. You naturally take ownership, keep your team on track and will be pro-active in raising issues or coming up with creative solutions. Your holistic approach, system level thinking and overall experience will enable you to think ahead and anticipate and navigate roadblocks effectively.
YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT BY
- Leading a team of Mechanical Design Engineers from a technical perspective, and by example, fostering a collaborative team culture and driving innovation and professional growth,
- Contributing innovative ideas for enhancing product performance and functionality, while leveraging your deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles to develop new concepts and solutions.
- Utilizing 3D modeling tools to create detailed mechanical designs
- Conducting simulations and analyses to validate designs for performance, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Overseeing prototyping, rigorous testing, and collaboration with testing and quality assurance teams to validate design concepts and ensure compliance with specified requirements and standards.
- Collaborating and communicating design concepts across teams and stakeholders, while integrating mechanical components seamlessly into the overall product architecture.
- Optimizing design for cost-effective production by collaborating closely with manufacturing teams and providing support throughout the manufacturing process to address any design-related issues.
- Creating detailed design documentation, including drawings and specifications, also ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
- Continuously learning about the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and design technologies, implementing best practices and new techniques to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the design process.
