THE PROJECT
In this project as an intern at the R&D department of Skytree you will be
investigating the degradation mechanism of sorbent material by using both analytical techniques, such as FTIR and by carrying out degradation studies to look at material performance over time. You will be experimenting using an FTIR spectrometer at the University of Amsterdam to understand the chemical changes that the material undergoes, under the supervision of Prof. Bettina Baumgartner. The investigation of the effect of material degradation on its performance will be carried out at Skytree, under the supervision of members of the R&D team.
Learning Objectives:
- Hands-on experience in an emerging field within the climate tech sector: material characterization using analytical techniques and carrying out tests to define CO2 capture performance of materials
- Discussion and brainstorming with academia and industry professionals to correlate material characterization with performance tests
- Networking within the carbon capture industry and cross-functional collaboration
- Internship duration- 5 months, full-time, 40 hrs a week.
- Start date- August/September 2025
- This position does not meet the criteria for employer sponsorship, therefore we are unable to support work permit or residency applications.
