  • Basic Function
    The Sr. Asset Optimization Manager will support the Asset Management group in various functions including short and long-term renewable power portfolio analysis and valuations, risk monitoring and analysis, short-term hedging, data management, and process improvement. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a team responsible for hedging and optimizing the profitability of a growing portfolio of operating assets. This position will coordinate with a variety of internal and external counterparties including Risk, Transmission Analytics, Data Science, Power Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Capital Markets. The successful candidate will maintain meticulous accuracy in a multi-project, multi-entity setting and will thrive in a fast-paced, constantly evolving work environment demanding a high-level of ownership and analytical, strategic thinking, and negotiation skills.
    Responsibilities
  • Runs portfolio financial modeling using various power curves and market scenarios to understand risk and determine actions for review with the Risk team.
  • Analyzes the impact of movements in power markets and subsequent flow through tax equity and debt structures.
  • Runs probabilistic scenario analysis to determine hedging strategy risk and return profiles.
  • Provides portfolio valuation analysis and stress testing; flow through to FP&A as necessary.
  • Manages a portfolio of physical and financial wholesale power derivatives.
  • Presents proposed hedging strategies to Risk Committee.
  • Leverages skills in statistical analysis, market fundamentals, ISO protocols, and regulatory issues to drive the insights into historical and forward pricing curves for power, ancillary services, congestion products, and renewable energy credits; consolidates weekly / monthly / yearly market outlooks and runs short-term hedging strategy meetings.
  • Monitors and track portfolio performance relative to market actions and hedges and report P&L produced by those actions.
  • Writes and own procedures for hedging strategies.
  • Negotiates and maintain enabling agreements such as ISDAs and has responsibility for all aspects of the deal including inception, milestones, approvals, execution, and booking.
  • Prepares executive slide decks, models, and demonstrations of initiatives for internal and external partners.
  • Maintains working knowledge of ISO rules, regulations, and procedures through online training modules.
    Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g, finance, statistics, economics, math or related field).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in power market portfolio or asset optimization management.
  • Strong statistical skills (i.e., Linear Regressions, Multivariate Statistics, etc.)
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Energy commodity trading support, congestion experience and commercial decision-making experience.
  • Prefer experience in renewables.
  • Deadline driven with project management skills for cross-organizational coordination.
  • Experience working in ERCOT & CAISO.
  • Experience with cQuant, Python.
    Travel Requirements
    Location: San Francisco Bay Area, CA, Denver, CO, Phoenix, AZ, TX or remote option available
    The position may require up to 10% domestic travel (once normal and safe travel requirements resume
    Base Pay : 140000-180000
  • Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, such as skill set, experience, certifications, specific work location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. Base pay may vary per location due to differences in the cost of living.

The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual discretionary bonus, full Health & Wellness Benefits package, generous Long Term Incentive plan designed with our partnership mentality in mind, and other applicable incentive perks as outlined in any formal offer made. The final compensation package will be discussed with the candidate during the final stages of the hiring process.
