About Rondo Energy

Rondo Energy's mission is to eliminate 15% of global CO2 emissions in 15 years.

To accomplish this mission, Rondo is deploying low-cost, zero-carbon Rondo Heat Batteries to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy and to significantly decarbonize industrial processes that are commonly thought of as "difficult-to-decarbonize". Our Heat Batteries charge from intermittent renewables to provide high temperature, continuous heat for customers safely, reliably, at an unprecedented 98% efficiency - and at a cost point that is lower than any other method.

We are looking for an experienced, innovative Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team and repower industrial heat at scale. This role will require fluency in many different Mechanical Engineering competencies, including complex design integration, top assembly, systems integration, plus the ability to work with a variety of internal teams and external vendors. Furthermore, this role will require familiarity and comfort in working in a fast-paced environment, comfort in working with uncertainty, assessing risk, and developing multi-disciplinary solutions in a collaborative team setting.

What You Will Do (key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to):

  • Perform engineering design, analysis, prototyping and/or testing required to achieve robust and cost-effective solutions for our core technology, as well as on tooling and other equipment to support manufacturing.
  • Lead System-level Design studies and design philosophy to inform decisions throughout the design process, including Clash Detection, System interface and integration, Requirements Compliance, and design suitability throughout the product life cycle.
  • Lead development, validation, and maintenance of large, federated models involving 8+ design and engineering disciplines.
  • Coordinate the models produced by the internal design team, external contractors, and other third-party vendors using the federated model, including internal and external data transfer between design teams.
  • Convert product requirements into technical specifications, developing conceptual and detailed designs along with the necessary risk assessments

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Mechanical Engineering focused on complex multi-disciplinary systems and/or Construction
  • 3+ years of Design Integration Engineering Experience, leading development of several top-level assembly integration efforts
  • Experience working on highly integrated infrastructure projects
  • Expert Knowledge of Solid works
  • Familiarity with Revit, BIM 360, AutoCAD, and all Autodesk software, or with comparable tools and the ability to quickly learn
  • Excellent communication skills; comfortable gathering, synthesizing, and disseminating program information among internal and external technical and non-technical parties
  • Flexibility, openness, and creative problem-solving
  • Comfort working with fast-based environments, with uncertainty, and in collaborative team settings
  • Experience working in one or more of the following is preferred: Steam/Superheated Gas Processing Systems, Furnace Systems, Fluid/Chemical Process Systems, Industrial Systems

This role necessitates being majority on-site at our Alameda headquarters. The estimated annual salary range for this position is $130,000 - $170,000 in the Bay Area and it would be eligible for Rondo's excellent benefits listed above, plus additional compensation in the form of equity. Please note that some pay bands may have wide ranges of compensation to accommodate candidates' diverse sets of skill levels and experience.
