Job Description

About Rondo Energy

Rondo Energy's mission is to eliminate 15% of global CO2 emissions in 15 years.

To accomplish this mission, Rondo is deploying low-cost, zero-carbon Rondo Heat Batteries to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy and to significantly decarbonize industrial processes that are commonly thought of as "difficult-to-decarbonize". Our Heat Batteries charge from intermittent renewables to provide high temperature, continuous heat for customers safely, reliably, at an unprecedented 98% efficiency - and at a cost point that is lower than any other method.

The European Project Development Attorney shall be responsible for reviewing and negotiating Rondo Heat Battery storage-as-a-service agreements and providing legal support to the project development process including, but not limited to, working with local counsel on permitting and regulatory matters. The business is growing at a rapid pace and key to Rondo’s success will be an attorney who is comfortable with hyper-growth operating environments. This is an excellent opportunity to join an early-stage company focused on decarbonization and to have a huge global impact.

Join our team and together we can reduce world CO emissions by 1% in 10 years, and by 15% in 15 years!

What You Will Do (key responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to):

  • Offer legal guidance and advice on all aspects of project development, including contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, risk assessment, and due diligence
  • Provide strategic input to support project objectives
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements
  • Identify legal risks associated with project development and propose risk mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external counsel, government entities, and customers to facilitate project development processes and address legal concerns
  • Work closely with project management teams to provide legal support at different stages of project development. Participate in project meetings, conduct legal research, and offer guidance on contractual obligations

What You Will Bring:

  • Significant experience negotiating offtake agreements, preferably with commercial, industrial and utility customers
  • Experience developing energy projects (in either a legal or non-legal capacity) is a plus
  • Law degree and required certification
  • Flexibility in working across time zones and business environments, as the Rondo team and its projects are located worldwide
  • Self-motivated/directed—enjoys working hard and looks for challenges; able to act and react, as necessary, even if limited information is available
  • Excellent judgment with the ability to make decisions quickly in an organized and detailed manner
  • Desire to work in a fast and dynamic, people-first environment
  • Flexibility to travel at times for in-person meetings, primarily within Europe and occasionally to the U.S.
  • Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken), including ability to draft and negotiate specialized legal documents
