Role Summary As a Staff Offline Perception ML Engineer, you will be acting as a tech lead to drive the development of offline perception algorithms and machine learning models, for high quality auto labeling that directly impact safety critical self-driving features of our category defining vehicles. Responsibilities Planning the roadmap, and driving the technical development of the offline perception modeling, data pipeline, and evaluation. You will ship the product as high volume and high quality auto labels for supervising the onboard production model in various perception tasks Collaborate with ML engineers and software engineers in the team, to maintain the stability and efficiency of the data pipeline and training pipeline. You will also work with data loop engineers to curate data, constantly retraining or fine tuning the models and software to address corner case performance issues in the auto labels Collaborate with the ML infra team, driving the infra requirement on enabling the regression testing for ML model deployment on scalable cloud inference pipeline, and optimizing the inference efficiency Qualifications B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field 5+ years industry experience on developing machine learning models for solving autonomy related tasks, such as ○ Developing large machine learning models for early sensor fusion (radar, lidar, cameras) and multiple perception tasks, such as object detection, lane detection, map fusion, and semantic segmentation ○ Developing ML models for processing temporal signals (like sensor frames, or detections), and solving problems such as tracking, and refinement of the detection state/attributes from early detection models ○ ML approach for scene reconstruction using multiple cameras Demonstrated experience of developing and shipping ML products, from prototype phase to production phase Strong problem solving skills to root cause the performance deficiencies of the system, proposing solutions, and improving the system Strong modeling skills with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow or MxNet Good knowledge of recent ML architectures such as CNN and transformer Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment Excellent team player with great communication skills Passionately motivated to take ideas from R&D phase to a product Preferred Skills Experience of mentoring / guiding team members for technical projects of great complexity Experience of developing offline perception solutions for auto labeling Pay Disclosure Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $228,000.00 - $285,000.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
