About Redwood Materials

Redwood Materials was founded in 2017 to create a circular supply chain for electric vehicles and clean energy products, making them more sustainable and driving down the cost for batteries. We’re doing this by developing and deploying new technologies to increase the scope and scale of recycled and sustainable materials in the global battery supply chain.

Fire Protection Engineer

Redwood Materials is currently seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to join our Infrastructure Development team. These roles are at the center of our activities focused on creating a sustainable circular economy for lithium-ion batteries by transforming recycled materials into battery materials for new lithium-ion battery production.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop & create complete set of code / life safety permit documents for various site projects
  • Develop & create fire protection reports for new production lines / materials / suppression / detection systems coming to the factory.
  • Develop and summit AM&M (Alternate Means & Methods) to help with performance-based design criteria to meet intent of code
  • Code Planning / Life Safety design (Schematic design through commissioning)
  • Develop process improvements / workflows / templates to increase design productivity and quality of deliverables

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • Experience in design engineering of suppression system (wet-pipe, dry-pipe, deluge, foam, clean agent), fire alarm/mass notification system, smoke control system, fire pumps, water storage tanks
  • Experience with life safety requirements, building code analysis, passive fire protection systems
  • Working knowledge of relevant NFPA standards including but not limited to NFPA 1, 13, 20, 70, 72, 75, 76, and 90A, and 101
  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation, and Revit/Revit MEP
  • A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place!

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
