Job Description

ProducePay is transforming the global produce industry into a more connected and sustainable movement. We give farmers unprecedented access to the market, financial solutions, and trade protection they need. Buyers and consumers receive fresher produce more efficiently, knowing it is grown and delivered in responsible ways. This simplified approach can help to eliminate over 60% of economic waste and create value for everyone in the fresh produce supply chain.

We are seeking a dynamic Strategic Partnerships Director to serve alongside our Vice President of Strategic Partnerships.

A key responsibility of the Strategic Partnerships function is to help shape, execute and scale partner relationships that increase company value. ProducePay’s new Predictable Commerce Partnership program is a major initiative led by Strategic Partnerships. Within this program, ProducePay uses its balance sheet, field team and grower relationships to consolidate the supply of fresh produce and create 52-week sourcing programs for retailers. The Strategic Partnerships Director will spend 2/3 of his/her time building out these programs across specific commodities.

Day-to-day activities will include doing business development and client meetings with prospective partners, negotiating deal terms and legal contracts, project managing partners, contributing to the future strategy, and providing internal reporting. An effective Strategic Partnerships Director will need to have clear organization skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strategic mindset and a passion for disrupting the food system.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting strategic relationships with marketers and growers of specific commodities across the US, Latin America and Europe.
  • Coordinate workstreams across multiple internal and external teams, including defining key objectives, managing deadlines and leading internal reporting.
  • Negotiate and work closely with Legal to craft legal language and create legal contracts.
  • Collect partner feedback to improve the program and define the main strategies for scaling the program.
  • Participate in traditional strategic partnership activities, including defining and sourcing pipeline of prospective partners, prioritizing opportunities, defining and executing proof of concept, and convincing internal stakeholders to scale key programs.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of combined experience in strategy, business development or consulting roles, of which >5 years were in client-facing roles.
  • Experience in the fresh produce or food industry (preferred, but not required).
  • MBA (preferred, but not required).
  • Experience communicating, presenting, and influencing key stakeholders at all levels of an organization, including executive and C-level.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple tasks at a time, while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and email etiquette, and the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in challenging situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with working knowledge of basic contractual legal terms.
  • Self-starter that thrives in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced startup environment with the demonstrated capacity to lead, motivate and work well with others.
  • Ability to conduct business proficiently in English; Spanish language skills preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to travel to meet clients up to 30% of the time or as business needs dictate.
  • Work location - anywhere across North America or Latin America.

Benefits

  • Health Insurance: Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits
  • Competitive comp package of base, bonus, and equity
  • 401K - company automatically contributes 3%
  • Work-from-Home Stipend
  • Quarterly Volunteer Days
  • Pet Insurance
  • Unlimited Paid-Time-Off
  • Brilliant, motivated, and fun team members
