About the Position

The purpose of the Analytical Chemist is to provide technical support to Analytics R&D function to meet project goals. The Analytical Chemist brings creativity, inquisitiveness, and clarity to the complex problem of investigating novel chemistries — combined with the ability to communicate methods and results with fellow scientists, engineers, and Origin’s non-technical staff. This is an exciting role within a science-driven company and an opportunity to develop expertise in analytical techniques both novel and tried-and-true.

You will be responsible for:

  • Supporting new method development/optimization and validation by applying a variety of analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC-FID, GC-MS, GFAA etc. to perform qualification and quantitation
  • Utilizing the scientific method to perform research in order to create new analytical methods.
  • Performing assigned experiments that support non-routine development activities/projects by applying a variety of analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC-FID, GC-MS, GFAA etc.
  • Supporting new method development
  • Optimizing existing methods
  • Validating methods
  • Performing qualifications
  • Helping with basic design and execution of experiments
  • Performing method troubleshooting as directed
  • Conducting data acquisition, data analysis and data interpretation
  • Helping to transfer newly developed method to Routine Analysis
  • Preparing samples, standards, required solutions/buffers, chemical reagents etc.
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting analytical instruments
  • Performing other duties as required including TOC, UV-Vis, DSC etc.
