Opti, a division of Aliaxis Next, is a leader in IoT cloud-based stormwater management, is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant to support a fast-growing company whose products help communities adapt to changing societal and environmental circumstances. Opti is the creator and leading provider of Continuous Monitoring and Adaptive Control (CMAC) solutions. Opti's software products provide solutions to multiple, often competing, stormwater objectives, providing customers with economic savings, resiliency and peace of mind.

We are expanding our finance team and are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to help scale our business. As the Senior Accountant, you will play a critical role in our organization by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data and supporting the overall financial operations of the company. This is a newly created role with tremendous opportunity to improve processes, generate insights, and support Opti’s vision to be the world’s most trusted and transformative stormwater control platform.

Job Responsibilities

  • Complete the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and other analyses
  • Prepare customer invoices and research and resolve accounts receivables with a focus on driving collections
  • Review accounts payable to solicit approvals, process reimbursements, and ensure proper accruals
  • Own timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial statements for Leadership Team and own the monthly financial reporting to Corporate parent
  • Provide ongoing refinement and continuous improvement of all accounting workflows (e.g., cash management, inventory management and procurement, travel and entertainment reimbursements, month-end close)
  • Coordinate and support external audits, including the preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation, responses to auditor inquiries, and implementation of audit recommendations
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and establish controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records
  • Provide exceptional business partnership to both internal and external customers in a responsive and positive manner
  • Participate in proposal and contracting processes to ensure complete documentation and understand revenue recognition
  • Support the Vice President, Finance on special projects, adhoc analysis, financial modeling, and workflow process improvements

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field required; CPA designation is required
  • 3+ years of experience in an Accounting role
  • Experience using QuickBooks Online, Expensify, Bill.com and other early-stage company software platforms
  • Ability to independently perform balance sheet reviews, account reconciliations, and flux analyses
  • Solid understanding of accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606) and ability to independently research and interpret accounting guidelines, as needed
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office Suite and experience with Google Workspace
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functionally
  • High level of integrity and trust regarding confidential information

Preferred Candidate Skills

  • Public accounting background (Big 4 preferred)
  • IFRS experience is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with other ERPs (NetSuite, Anaplan, etc.) and/or implementation experience is a plus
  • Understanding of revenue recognition in software and professional services organizations
  • Experience using Salesforce
