Job Description

Thanks for your interest in Oklo! We are searching for a CAD and PDM Engineer to join our engineering team. We are looking to fill this position immediately!

Position Description

As a CAD and PDM Engineer, you will be responsible for providing CAD support to all engineering projects. You will work with mechanical engineers, thermal-hydraulic engineers, and other engineers to create 3D models and drawings of engineering concepts.

You will be a pivotal part of CAD development and design data storage at Oklo. You will lead the migration from Oklo’s current CAD system to another, configure and maintain a Product Data Management (PDM) system, and establish robust processes and best practices. You will provide prompt technical, operational, and administrative support in order to ensure the smooth running of our CAD and PDM systems.

You should have a strong drive to improve our systems. You will work with the engineering teams to implement solutions that help to accelerate design and manufacturing. This could include implementing standardized parts/libraries, developing best modelling and drafting practices, or creating custom CAD tools to automate engineering.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Create, modify, and maintain parametric 3D models and 2D layouts/drawings.
  • Generate design related presentation images and diagrams.
  • Drive the development and maintenance of common parts and features, templates, and libraries in CAD.
  • Create and deliver CAD/PDM training to new and existing staff.
  • Create and maintain documentation for CAD/PDM user support processes.
  • Provide prompt CAD/PLM technical and operational support to engineering teams, including troubleshooting for CAD/PLM and managing user permissions.
  • Assess new versions, features, and modules and disseminate information to CAD/PDM users.
  • Ensure that all CAD data is correctly managed, stored, and version controlled.
  • Drive continuous improvement and implement strategies for improving CAD/PLM process, integration, and efficiency.
  • Work with users to develop/update tool customizations to improve CAD/PLM efficiency.
  • Work with engineering teams to establish and maintain CAD standards.

Competencies

We are looking for a CAD and PDM Engineer that is:

  • Familiar with engineering principles and has good engineering intuition.
  • Excited about proactively improving processes.
  • Organized, thorough, and attentive to details.
  • Able to compose clear and concise technical documentation.
  • Passionate about clean energy and making advanced fission a reality.
  • Willing and able to learn quickly.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, highly iterative startup environment.

Who you are:

A startup person: You aren't driven by titles or hierarchy, and prefer efficiency to excess process. You don't need or expect to have a lot of guidance but you enjoy working in a fast-paced team. If you prefer the culture and feel of a large organization, that is great, but you likely won’t enjoy working with us! There is plenty of important work and plenty of good opportunities with organizations like that.

Motivated: You are self-motivated. You bring an enthusiasm to the team, and imbue a sense of passion that goes beyond clocking in and clocking out. This isn’t about a fake or arbitrary “pieces of flair” mentality or lack of work-life balance! It is about being a part of the vision and feeling a part of reaching team goals.

A team-player: Oklo genuinely is a team. We aren’t about taking credit for ourselves, and we aren’t about pushing blame to others. We do incredible things because we work as a team.

An excellent communicator: We need a person who is not only technically competent but also a clear and upbeat communicator.

Creative: Being creative means that when things fall outside clear scopes or processes or problems arise without clear solutions, you are able to identify it as well as invent ways to solve a problem or fill a need without micromanagement. The successful person in this job will not only be creative, but also enjoy being creative and solving open-ended problems which may change day-by-day.

Detail-oriented: This focus is a big part of excellence, consistency, and quality. Excellent grammar and spelling matter for both good communication as well as the image of the company that we put forward.

Experience Level:

Intermediate (2-5yr) or Experienced (5-10yr)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Drafting or an engineering design related technology.
  • 5+ years experience using CAD with a focus in modeling (parametric and non-parametric), drafting, and assembly management.
  • 3+ years experience with PDM usage and how they integrate with CAD and other systems.
  • 2+ years experience supporting CAD and PDM for an engineering team.
  • Experience with developing and deploying proprietary tools into CAD and PDM softwares.
  • Experience with creating and maintain standard hardware libraries/part families.
  • Experience providing technical training in CAD, PDM, and other engineering tools.
  • NX and Teamcenter experience is highly preferred.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field with experience in developing, documenting, and training to CAD standards, including drafting standards and modeling standards.
  • Experience with Python.

About Oklo compensation:

Salary: $75,000-$130,000

Salary may fall outside of the range provided and will be dependent on applicant experience.

Oklo offers flexible time off, equity, competitive pay, 401k, health insurance, FSA, flexible work hours, and other benefits.
