About the role

The Carbon Analyst role is a key addition to Novata’s evolving Services team, which recently launched Novata Services to enhance our technology solution with offerings that amplify the value of Novata’s experience. This role is specifically tailored to focus on carbon-related services and initiatives, supporting Novata in meeting the growing needs of our customers in carbon measurement, reporting, and performance management.

Novata is looking for a Carbon Analyst to:

  • Execute carbon service delivery, including tailored GHG data collection plans, data quality checks, and support the Services team to expand its carbon-related support offerings
  • Analyse client carbon data to unearth key performance insights, identify process improvement opportunities, and enhance data quality, supporting companies on their carbon journey
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings with the revenue team, product teams, and customer success; synthesize and distill product input from a variety of stakeholders and contribute to research projects that lay the groundwork for future product releases
  • Contribute to the Novata regulatory roadmap: Develop subject matter expertise on carbon-related regulations, aiding in product alignment with regulatory rollouts

Responsibilities:

Support the Novata Services team in delivering our menu of platform-aligned service offerings to help Novata customers maximize the value of their data and ensure an excellent overall experience

  • The Carbon Analyst will work to provide external and internal deliverables. This will include, but is not limited to:
  • Guiding clients through greenhouse gas data collection, data validation processes, and project management of offline workstreams to support clients in collecting data for employee commute, business travel, financed emissions, etc
  • Develop internal resources such as metric guidance, methodological documents, training modules, etc to enhance organizational knowledge of GHG measurement and management
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for relevant regulations, frameworks, and initiatives as they relate to carbon:
  • It is essential to have knowledge of the GHG Protocol and a broad understanding of ESG and / or key sustainability frameworks;
  • It would be preferable to have knowledge the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF), the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), the EU Taxonomy, and/or the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD);
  • It would be advantageous to have knowledge of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) IFRS S1 and S2 standards, and/ or the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD).

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of industry experience in a related field e.g. ESG advisory, sustainability, impact investing, and / or private equity, or carbon accounting solution provider.
  • Fluency in the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting Standard, you are comfortable interpreting and applying its guidelines for accurate greenhouse gas inventory management and reporting across industries and levels of company maturity;
  • Data fluency, you are comfortable identifying, pulling, and analyzing datasets and translating insights into actions;
  • Adept at synthesizing feedback from various stakeholders into actionable input for product development;
  • Strong analytical and writing abilities to help articulate various ESG topics to novices and experts alike;
  • Excellent Excel skills and/or other analytical software
  • Motivation and interest to undertake research across the ESG space;
  • Proactive with the ability and confidence to use initiative;
  • Curious, collaborative, and empathic.

Anticipated Salary Range $90K to $110K depending upon experience.
