Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Director of Academy for Leadership and Manufacturing training to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future.

The role is a part of our passionate team based in Stockholm and Västerås.
By joining us, you will be a key enabler in establishing our Global Northvolt Academy of Leadership and Manufacturing training and contribute to building many large scale green battery factories.

About the job
In your role as Global Director of Academy, you will embrace an exciting initiative, cultivating expertise and excellence within our workforce. Your role will include:

  • Establish and lead a team focused on crafting and delivering modern training programs for our workforce, with a clear focus on leadership and production competence.
  • Take charge of our state-of-the-art Manufacturing Simulation facility and internal training centers, ensuring the highest quality and optimization of training across diverse functions.
  • Spearhead the implementation of lean manufacturing principles throughout the organization, fostering operational efficiency and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Fostering our partnerships with educational institutions, promoting the development of educational initiatives and facilitating communication to attract and groom skilled employees.
  • Be part of an international and passionate team dedicated to lead and learn, innovation in battery cell manufacturing, working in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
  • Gain in-depth knowledge and expertise in the forefront of battery cell manufacturing technologies and processes.

About the team
You will report to the Chief People Officer at Northvolt and be part of the People and Growth Management Team. You lead and when needed recruit a team of Site Academy Managers to ensure that our manufacturing training programs are cutting-edge, standardized, and scalable across all Northvolt facilities. Above all, you will also be responsible for developing and implementing the ongoing vision for robust leadership learning across Northvolt all sites.

Our close partnership with colleagues in the People & Growth organization is vital. Learning and competence are integral components of various processes, including talent acquisition, career development, workforce planning, and beyond. Your role will be instrumental in harmonizing leadership and manufacturing training programs with these processes, fostering a comprehensive and unified approach to talent development and workforce enhancement.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Designing and implementing scalable training initiatives that set the industry standard for leadership, manufacturing competence and innovation.
  • Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to optimize training programs and ensure consistent quality and efficiency across all our facilities.
  • Championing lean manufacturing principles and instilling a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Provide direction and direct involvement in the conduct of learning, instructional design, and development of the content of learning activities, and regularly assess the effectiveness of programming, and retooling learning to help support leaders in developing skills they need to meet Northvolt's goals.
  • Continue building and managing our relationships with educational institutions to drive educational advancements and attract top-tier talent.
  • Being a vital part of an international and highly motivated team dedicated to reshaping the future of battery cell manufacturing.
  • Gaining deep insights into the latest battery cell manufacturing technologies and processes.
