Job Description
Niron Magnetics is scaling the world’s first advanced manufacturing process for the mass production of permanent magnets. The company’s proprietary magnet technology based on Iron Nitride enables magnets that are inherently high magnetization, free of rare earths and other critical materials, and will drive innovation in various industries. Niron Magnetics is comprised of a team of professionals with a desire to make a positive impact on the global community. We were named one of “America's Top GreenTech Companies” for 2024 and 2025 by TIME Magazine and the “Innovation of the Year” at the 2025 mHUB Fourth Revolution Awards.
Our team is made up of people who think big, dare to innovate, and strive to impact the planet through technological innovation for our customers. Ready to learn alongside amazing people, solve complex problems, and leave a legacy? Join our team.
What you’ll do
You will serve as a translator, integrator, and air-traffic controller for our Product team—connecting customer needs with manufacturing realities. You will shape part designs, evaluate feasibility, build schedules, and align cross-functional partners across engineering, production, and commercial. You will also join customer discussions to negotiate trade-offs and return with a plan the factory can confidently deliver. This role offers direct exposure to senior leadership at Niron and major customer accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Feasibility & Triage (Fast Loops): Assess customer part designs against production capabilities and provide clear recommendations with practical paths forward
- Design for Manufacturing (DfM): Collaborate with customers to shape manufacturable part geometries and tolerances; quantify impact on yield, cycle time, and cost
- Quality Alignment: Work with quality engineers to define inspection criteria that balance customer needs with real manufacturing limits; negotiate quality requirements with customers
- Cross-Functional Orchestration: Coordinate production, quality, applications, and commercial teams on priorities and dependencies; communicate risks early
- Project Management: Track progress, resolve issues, and keep customer builds and product-related projects on schedule
- Reporting & Communication: Translate production status, build metrics, and risks into concise and effective executive-level dashboards and reports
- Customer Support: Join customer calls with sales and applications engineers; align design requirements, negotiate trade-offs, and set realistic timelines
- Continuous Improvement: Spot bottlenecks and opportunities (handoffs, specs, data gaps), eliminate waste, and implement simple systems that improve speed and reliability over time
What we’re looking for
- B.S. in Mechanical, Industrial, Materials Engineering, or similar technical field.
- Experience in quality, applications, product management, or manufacturing engineering – preferably in an advanced manufacturing environment.
- Comfort working directly with customers to set expectations, negotiate design decisions, and balance cost/delivery trade-offs.
- Strong communication skills, especially synthesizing complex information for executives and cross-functional teams and resolving tension between opposing business priorities
- Ability to create realistic schedules and help teams navigate ambiguity and execute
- Strong Design for Manufacturing (DfM) intuition – ability to translate drawings and specs into stepwise manufacturing plan, make informed trade-off decisions and identify risk points
- Understanding of quality principles relevant to New Product Introduction (NPI)
We know that not all great candidates check every box. If you’re excited about the role and believe you have the skills to succeed, we encourage you to apply.
Nice to have
- Graduate degree and business/operations exposure
- Experience in powder metallurgy, advanced materials, or permanent magnets
- CAD proficiency (SolidWorks or similar) and ability to suggest and implement design adjustments
- Comfort building simple production/throughput models and familiarity with ERP/MRP
- Experience in R&D-to-pilot-to-production environments
- Experience working in a start-up or new business unit – preferably in manufacturing
Our pay and benefits
We believe great work deserves great support. Here’s how we invest in you:
- Competitive Salary: $100,000 - 140,000 annually, based on your experience and impact.
- Ownership Opportunity: Equity in Niron through a meaningful stock option grant—your success is our success.
- Comprehensive Health Coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance to keep you and your family well.
- Mental Health Support: Because your well-being matters just as much as your work.
- 401(k) with Company Match: Helping you plan for the future while building something big today.
- Ample Time Off: Paid vacation, sick time, and holidays to recharge and reconnect.
- A Place to Thrive: Join a high-performing, purpose-driven manufacturing environment where innovation and collaboration fuel every day.
