What we're looking for:

Nexamp is growing their Utility-Scale Transmission & Market Analysis team and seeking to hire a Transmission & Market Analytics Engineer. You will be a key resource for our Business Development team’s transmission and interconnection activities from a market and commercial perspective. In this role you will be responsible for evaluation of transmission opportunities & constraints, pricing, congestion, and curtailment risk to support the team’s organic project development and acquisition efforts. We are accepting candidates across our offices of Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, or Austin, TX where you will be hybrid. You will report to the Manager, Transmission & Market Analytics.

What you'll do:

  • Work with leadership and internal/external stakeholders to grow the company's portfolio through the evaluation of transmission and interconnection opportunities in various target ISO/RTOs.
  • Develop a thorough understanding and evaluation of potential interconnection options for projects, and the related costs, benefits, and challenges associated.
  • Crystalize data into information and then knowledge that can be leveraged by management to support final strategy and investment decision making.
  • Utilize data analytics, power system analytics, and other methods to gain insight and draw conclusions despite uncertainty and changing market dynamics.
  • Assist with determining the optimum plan/strategy for project interconnection using analytical tools and methods.
  • Work with and assist with managing 3rd-party resources to conduct technical and economic evaluation studies of solar and solar + storage energy projects, including congestion and curtailment studies.
  • Clearly communicate any commercial risks to Business Development team and management, as appropriate.
  • Assist other utility-scale functions across greenfield development and M&A as needed.
  • Monitor tariff and policy changes through various stakeholder opportunities in target markets.
  • Track key projects, local transmission upgrades, Transmission Expansion Plans, and Long-Range Transmission Plans.
  • Conduct regular update meetings with utility-scale team.
  • Perform Power System Analysis to determine transmission system constraints, injection capacity of a line or substation, or transfer capability.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical focused program from a university with an accredited engineering program
  • Commitment to Nexamp’s mission and a passion for solving tomorrow’s climate crisis today.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with statistical methods or exposure to data analytics.
  • Strong understanding of the electric transmission system.
  • Ability to use Microsoft excel, and other database software proficiently to synthesize complex topics into digestible formats.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.
  • Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality.
  • Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
  • Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
  • Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions.
