What we're looking for:

Nexamp is seeking to hire a Director, Estimation on our Clean Energy Operations team. You will be responsible for establishing and implementing the strategic vision for the future of DG and Utility Scale estimation efforts for the organization. This will be accomplished through technical expertise, innovative ideas, collaboration with internal stakeholders and establishing personal relationships with internal and external stakeholders. A balance of soft skills, technical acumen, and an innovative thinker will be empowered to lead the team to be a leader in our industry.

You will be hybrid out of either our Boston or Chicago office. You will report to the VP, Clean Energy Deployment Operations.

What you'll do:

  • Develop estimation strategy, establish & implement “Best Practices” to enhance service performance
  • Focus on continuous improvement for increased efficiency through process improvement, procedure documentation and creating co-operative/committed work culture within the team and business partners
  • Develop metrics to establish baseline estimation performance and track objectives set forth by stakeholders
  • Assign estimating work, coach, mentor and provide technical support to estimating team.
  • Lead the group in studying, analyzing and evaluating documents (RFP, Engineering, Quotations) from a technical point of view in order to identify risk factors, ensuring compliance with standards for overall assessment and bid decision
  • Collaborate with engineering and supply chain teams during bid preparation for cost optimization
  • Prepare monthly progress reports highlighting bid wins/ losses (indicating reasons) for review and verification of management
  • Responsible for process automation and optimization while supporting tactical deliverables
  • Lead efforts for development of utility-scale cost estimating process, utilizing existing community-solar tools and processes as a springboard

What you'll bring:

  • BS degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent
  • Technical (Engineering, Operations Management, Mathematics, Science) Master's Degree from an accredited university is preferred
  • 5+ years of experience estimating utility-scale solar is required
  • Previous experience engaging and inspiring teams to excel while focusing on the growth and well-being of team members.
  • DG and Utility Scale operational experience preferred
  • Strategic planning and implementation
  • Policy and/or legal experience preferred
  • Experienced or certified in Quality or Process Excellence methodologies preferred
  • Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.
  • Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality
  • Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
  • Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
  • Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions.
