About the Role

Are you passionate about designing impactful experiences in conservation and land management? We’re looking for a contract Product Designer to lead the design of our new landowner decision tools product, empowering landowners to make informed decisions about forest management. This project includes creating intuitive tools for planning and tracking land practices while minimizing complexity for users.

This contract role runs through March 31, with potential for renewal based on project needs.

What You’ll Do

• Lead 0 to 1 design for our decision tools product, ensuring it provides clear, effective guidance for landowners to plan, implement, and track land management practices
• Create user-friendly experiences that help users visualize tradeoffs, make decisions, and plan tasks related to their land
• Develop intuitive workflows to reduce user overwhelm and support those without specialized forestry knowledge
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to define and deliver design solutions aligned with project goals

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years in product design, UX, interaction design, or visual design with experience in project-based work
• A portfolio showcasing end-to-end user experience designs, particularly for complex or multi-step user flows
• Expertise in Figma and prototyping tools, with a solid understanding of best practices for both web and mobile design
• Ability to communicate design concepts clearly and iteratively

Compensation: $80/hour with estimated 20 hours/week

This is a temporary independent contractor role. Contractors will not be employed by NCX and no benefits are offered.
