The Role:

The Lab Supervisor position at Meati plays a pivotal role within our state-of-the-art 100,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Thornton, Colorado, affectionately referred to as the "Mega Ranch". Our innovative process for crafting delicious and nutritious meat alternatives from mushroom root commences in the lab, where mycelium embarks on its transformative journey preceding fermentation and food processing stages. As the Lab Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all lab operations, ensuring adherence to quality standards, timeliness, safety protocols, and fostering a positive work environment throughout the process.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of 4 direct reports managing performance, attendance and reviews
• Train and mentor, the team to ensure consistency and quality across all shifts
• Maintaining the SOP database
• Managing communication between Operations, analytical, QA and R&D
• Understanding analysis/sample flow
• Performing lab solution ideation, tracking and follow-up, communicating and escalating as needed
• Managing Sample flow into, and data flow out of the laboratory
• Data management through audits and Identify trends for the plant
• Investigate process deviations through the use of multiple CI tools
• Lead department specific studies and Improvement projects
• Liaising with purchasing for NetSuite upkeep and performing lot code analysis as needed.
• Scheduling tasks within the lab
• Ordering inventory for the entire lab Including QA and Analytical
• Managing data and the many Excel spreadsheets/implementing alternative solutions.
• Maintain records and schedules for recurring lab upkeep and training.
• Lead Daily Direction Setting (DDS)/shift handover conversations
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in life science or microbiology preferred.
• 2-4 years of experience in a microbiological or wet chemistry laboratory.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp new concepts, collaborate effectively within a team environment, and contribute positively to team dynamics.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• Ideally, a background in fungal biology, proficiency in statistical analysis, advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, and familiarity with JMP software.

Compensation:

$70,000 - $92,000 including a potential annual bonus and equity. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.
