Job Description

Brief:

  1. As an Electronics Design Lead, you will be responsible for managing a team of HW engineers through the entire Product Development Life Cycle from Concept to Ship.
  2. You will strongly contribute to design architecture & interface directly with system engineering leads & product managers.
  3. Your strong technical expertise will be precious for deep-diving into complex circuit design & troubleshooting.
  4. You will use your mentoring & technical skills to improve the efficiency of the HW engineering department as a whole.
  5. At Maxwell, you will have the opportunity to make lithium-ion batteries safer, and more efficient, and basically help the world tackle one of its biggest challenges: Energy storage.

Responsibilities

  • Design and development of digital, analog and Power electronics for control of high-power electronics systems.
  • Implement Value Analysis & Value Engineering( VAVE) techniques early in the design and component selection phase to avert later impact in production.
  • Analyse potential design gaps and improvise existing shipping designs to meet emerging customer requirements
  • Manage & grow a team of HW engineers
  • Ensure & optimize adherence to stringent standards (HW Design / FuSa / Manufacturing)
  • Knowledge of Industrial, Automotive and Product Safety Standards ( ISO26262, AIS004, AIS156, IEC61000-x, ISO10605
  • Ability to guide a team of Verification and Validation engineers, in setting up Devices for test for high power and mentor them to extract quantifiable outputs to enable leadership decision-making.
  • Troubleshoot and Debug with Firmware, Manufacturing Team on production issues.
  • Occasional Customer site visits to analyse the issue at hand after Application Engineering Team has diagnosed it for Engineering analysis( Hw, FW)
  • DFx- Design for Manufacturability, Testability, Compliance and Scalability(100k volume + annually)

Requirements

Must-Have Requirements

  • 5+ years of demonstrated successful experience in electrical engineering within a product design and manufacturing environment (high-power Li-Ion batteries are a plus)
  • Experience with Altium Designer for Schematic & PCB layout design
  • Start to finish ownership of control boards and other electronics – from specification to design, prototype, and manufacturing.
  • Experience with high current power semiconductor selection(MOSFETs, and Diodes), gate drive, and protection circuit design.
  • Familiar with schematic capture and power converter circuit simulation tools.
  • Familiar with component engineering, selection of various electronic components for design
  • Out of box thinker, to come up with innovative solutions, with the least engineering effort and cost impact keeping timelines in mind.
  • Adherence to 3 pillars of Product Delivery - Quality, Timeline and Results Accuracy
  • Hands-on experience in design for thermal mitigation, Electrical spec derating, DFMEA, Worst case analysis of circuit modules, FMEDA.
  • Experience in the selection and use of DSPs, microcontrollers, Analog Front End, and programmable logic devices and their peripheral circuitry (signal conditioning, board-level power supplies).
  • Experience in supervision of PCB layout for minimal stray inductance and capacitance, placement strategies for better manufacturability, power/signal plane definition, and EMC optimization.
  • Knowledge in environmental, reliability, and safety requirements for Automotive, Industrial, and residential applications.
  • Collaborate with the BMS HW/FW engineering team to successfully design, validate, and deploy testing tools
  • Experience in designing and supervising circuit design and PCB layout for EMI/EMC compliance
