The successful candidate will be responsible for the testing and validation of automotive lighting systems. This role requires a deep understanding of automotive lighting technologies, testing methodologies, scripting and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality and compliance with industry standards.
Responsibilities
Testing and Validation:
- Develop and execute test plans for automotive lighting systems to ensure they meet design specifications and performance criteria.
- Conduct functional, environmental, and durability testing of lighting components and systems.
- Perform optical measurements and photometric testing to validate lighting performance.
- Analyze test data and generate detailed test reports.
- Work with multiple external lab partners to set up, execute, and monitor testing
- Define test requirements for different optical components
- Ensure all testing activities are documented and adhere to quality management systems and regulatory requirements.
- Support with lessons learn and DFMEA activities.
Collaboration and Integration:
- Work closely with design and development teams to ensure seamless integration of lighting systems into vehicles.
- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on testability and validation requirements.
- Collaborate with suppliers and external testing laboratories to coordinate testing activities.
Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure that automotive lighting systems comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies, trends, and regulatory changes in automotive lighting.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and resolve issues encountered during testing and validation.
Bring up and debugging
- Support with initial electronics samples bring up, testing and debugging with the EE engineers
Scripting
- Create basic scripts in python for test routines
- Create programs to support the testing and measurement of components
- Automation of simple process, data analysis and acquisition
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience testing and validating lighting systems.
- Experience designing, executing, and managing testing and validation processes.
- In-depth knowledge of lighting technologies and testing methodologies.
- Experience analyzing data and generating test reports.
- Experience with Python scripting to automate test routines, data processing, and report generation.
- Hands-on experience with electronics, bring-up and debugging hardware systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Master’s degree in engineering is a plus.
Preferred:
- Experience designing and executing testing and validation of automotive systems
- In-depth knowledge of automotive lighting systems, testing methodologies, and standards and regulations.
- Experience with optical measurement equipment and photometric testing.
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. $113,800—$156,530 USD
