The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Controller will be an instrumental addition to our growing team in managing the day-to-day financial operations with oversight of all accounting functions, financial reporting, compliance and internal controls, and team development. The mission of this role will be to support/improve the critical infrastructure required to achieve our growth objectives while ensuring complete transparency and visibility of the company’s financial health. The Responsibilities:

• Financial Management:
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, financial reporting, and the financial system.
• Ensure accounts receivable and accounts payable are actively managed, to support optimal working capital and achieve financial objectives.
• Provide insights and recommendations to optimize financial performance and operational efficiency.
• Maintain an in-depth understanding of the financial system, developing accurate and useful standard or ad hoc monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for stakeholders, which can be distributed in a timely manner.
• Work collaboratively with all department leaders to increase their financial acumen and impact.
• Reporting and Compliance:
• Deliver accurate and timely entity and consolidated financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Optimize the month end close process to support a 7 day close.
• Preparation/approval of monthly supporting reconciliations and documentation for balance sheet and selected income statement items analyzing revenue, gross margin and expenses.
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and other financial reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with external auditors and assist in the preparation of audit materials and responses to audit inquiries.
• Manage and submit government filings, such as tax returns and regulatory reports.
• Strategic Financial Planning and analysis collaboration
• Support the Financial Analyst by providing information required for forecasts, budgets and other business analysis.
• Team Leadership and Development:
• Mentor and provide guidance to team members, encouraging their professional development and foster a culture of collaboration, growth and excellence.

Qualifications:

• CPA designation is required
• Proven experience as a Controller or similar role, preferably in a physical product, technology or retail environment
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
• Proficient in financial software systems and tools; experience with large ERP systems (Netsuite preferred)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Strong leadership abilities with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating across diverse teams.

Compensation Range: $90k -130k CAD
