The Role

The role will lead on all matters of public affairs and regulatory for Lilium in the Americas. In this position, you will report directly to the Head of Public Affairs and Partnerships, Americas and work closely with other members of the management and the commercial team. The role is based out of Washington D.C.

The company is embarking on an entirely new concept, bringing air transportation into cities and electrifying regional aviation. Thus, a large change in the thinking of people, regulators, and politicians is needed to ensure our vision becomes reality. This means engaging with members of Congress and their staff along with regulators, cities, and counties, as well as potential partners around the globe.

Our vision is bold, it is new and it will require top global talent to make it happen.

Lilium’s technology might be even more revolutionising by leapfrogging completely the building of high-speed road and rail networks.

Your Day to Day:

  • Work with the Head of Public Affairs and Partnerships, Americas and across the organization to develop our Public and Regulatory Affairs strategy for the Americas
  • Establish and maintain relationships with official bodies and stakeholders to familiarize them with our vision and to work jointly to make it a reality
  • Develop regulatory proposals, manage rule-making activities with various regulators, draft written submissions and statements to government consultations and select committee inquiries
  • Develop and implement public affairs strategies to effectively respond to public policy threats and opportunities
  • Monitor political and regulatory activities at federal and state level and in relevant jurisdictions
  • Research, forecast and evaluate the effects of public policy on Lilium using public sources, political intelligence and personal contacts
  • Attend select committee hearings, party conferences and other relevant events
  • Review the effectiveness of previous activities and how Lilium is viewed by political and other stakeholder
  • Conduct research, prepare high-level meetings, write newsletters, briefings, memos, campaign and other external communication materials
  • Represent Lilium’s interests in relevant trade associations and other interest representations

Your Profile:

  • 5+ years of work experience in politics, public sector, regulatory, media, or public affairs with exposure to top-level decision-makers
  • Experience working with members of congress and their staff and/or experience working with DOT and FAA staff
  • Strong political network in Americas
  • Work experience and/or deep personal interest in aviation / passenger transportation
  • MBA, strategy consulting, start-up, or other relevant business experience a plus
  • Strong academic background, especially in law, business, politics or engineering, a plus
  • Fluent in English; German professional proficiency a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, experiences in public speaking
  • Excellent negotiation skills and strong entrepreneurial thinking
  • Able and comfortable working in a developing, fluid and constantly changing company, as well as handling multiple priorities while constantly meeting deadlines
