Kaluza reimagines energy to bring net-zero within everyone’s reach. Our intelligent Platform enables energy utilities to unlock the full value of a radically changing energy system and propel us to a future where renewable energy is sustainable, affordable and accessible for all. From automating and simplifying core operations including billing to create a lower-cost, higher-engagement experience, to optimising energy usage across smart devices in the home, we turn tough challenges into win-win-win outcomes for customers, suppliers and the energy system. We champion a flexible, hybrid work approach and we find that teams often benefit from coming together in the office at least 2-3 days a week to foster connection and accelerate progress. Outside of these collaborative opportunities, we aim to be as flexible as possible to balance work with life. As a company we come together annually for our conference and end of year celebrations! Our goal is to build a self-sufficient and empowered team here on the ground in Australia. We’re well on our way, but until we get there we still have some reliances on our UK team. Being comfortable working flexibly for a portion of your working week to cover time zones is required.
Where in the world of Kaluza will I be working? You’ll be working across both Product and Technology, within our Delivery and Portfolio function as a technical writer, supporting: Kaluza’s Product community: A group of Product Managers and Leaders focused on translating complex needs into simple and innovative solutions that solve real customer and business problems. Kaluza’s Technology community: A large team of both data-led and product focused Software and Production Engineers, pushing the boundaries of technology and working at an extraordinary scale. As a collective we strive for engineering greatness by ensuring best practices across the board of the community. What will I be doing? We are seeking a highly motivated Technical Writer to help our product teams, engineers, and internal stakeholders effectively build, support, and scale our innovative platform. You will shape complex ideas, processes, and technology into simple, accurate, and effective documentation that empowers our clients and users of the platform — combining strategic content design with hands-on, docs-as-code delivery through an AI-augmented documentation pipeline. You will be a critical link in building a ‘documentation-led’ mindset across Kaluza, raising the visibility and impact of the technical writing practice. Specifically, you will support and drive in the following areas: Strategic Frameworks: Create and implement strategic writing frameworks and comprehensive documentation strategies for internal product knowledge. Content Creation: Identify documentation needs across API references and product specifications. AI-Augmented Documentation Pipeline: Maintain and improve our AI documentation agents (e.g. Gemini, Claude) and the templates, style guides, and prompts that feed them. Conduct rigorous human-in-the-loop reviews of AI-generated drafts to ensure tone, accuracy, and external-facing terminology before publication. Docs-as-Code & Site Operations: Manage the end-to-end documentation lifecycle via Git and Jira. Convert finalised drafts into Markdoc and publish via Redocly, editing YAML configuration to maintain navigation, search facets, and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) at the page and inline-text level. Support release cycles by working to tight deadlines alongside SME contributors. SME Collaboration: Establish strong relationships with product squads and engineering teams to gather information and translate complex concepts into clear, concise content. Standards & Governance: Establish and enforce documentation standards, style guides, and metadata/tagging conventions to ensure consistency and clarity across all repositories. Enforce terminology — replacing internal terms with external-facing equivalents and gating 'under the hood' detail from client-facing copy. Use established processes and practices to triage, create and implement technical writing asks. Knowledge Sharing Culture: Champion a culture of knowledge sharing, promoting best practices and encouraging active participation from all teams. Enablement: Create training resources and sessions to upskill others, improving the overall quality and scalability of writing across the organisation. Continuous Improvement: Conduct regular audits of existing documentation to identify gaps and inaccuracies, staying informed of industry best practices in technical writing and information architecture
About You Ideally you will have: Experience: 5+ years of experience in Technical Writing, Knowledge Management, or Information Architecture within a technology-driven environment. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of product and engineering processes, specifically API development and developer documentation best practices, and a basic grasp of service-based architecture. AI Tool Fluency: Proven experience working with AI agents (e.g. Gemini or Claude), including refining prompts and maintaining the templates and style guides that drive content generation. Docs-as-Code: Comfortable with Git workflows (branching, commits, Pull Requests) and editing markup languages such as Markdoc, Markdown, MDX, DITA, or RST. Able to read and edit YAML for site configuration. Methodology: Experience working within Agile development environments and a solid understanding of the product development lifecycle (PDLC). Communication: Impeccable spelling, grammar, and writing skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strategic Thinking: Experience creating content strategies and structuring complex information in a clear, intuitive manner. Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and the ability to spot issues between teams, business areas, and processes. Tools: Experience with documentation platforms such as Confluence, Slides, and Jira, and ideally a docs-as-code publishing platform such as Redocly (or similar). Mindset: A growth-oriented mindset, with an eye towards creative thinking, as well as having a calm + quick method to problem-solving. What would set you apart: Experience documenting GraphQL API schemas Ability to read and edit JSON Familiarity with command-line tools and inline code annotations within Markdown, MDX, or Markdoc A public GitHub profile or portfolio of writing samples you're happy to share
