Kairos Power is a new nuclear energy technology and engineering company whose mission is to enable the world’s transition to clean energy, with the ultimate goal to dramatically improve people’s quality of life while protecting the environment. This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety, affordable costs, and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.

Job Summary

Kairos Power is looking for a highly motivated engineering intern to support their Construction Projects team with tasks related to the design and construction of new site and facility improvements. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of project-related administrative, and technical tasks. This person will work directly with Project Engineers and Construction Management Specialists to perform the following:

Responsibilities

• Learn and utilize applicable building and design codes.
• Participate in both design and construction related meetings.
• Review and comment on construction drawings.
• Prepare supplementary and supporting documentation for design and construction.
• Learn and utilize applicable permitting requirements related to the City of Albuquerque and Mesa Del Sol Community.
• Interact and coordinate with local authorities and utility companies.
• Construction observation and reporting.
• Coordinate with appropriate teams to make design and finishing selections on new buildings.
• Cost tracking
• Prepare presentations and reports of work performed.
• Manage and coordinate vendors performing work on-site.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled, about to graduate or recently graduated in a BS or MS program in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or similar discipline.
• Familiarity with CAD software is a plus
• Ability to work collaboratively with others including, but not limited to, Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers on multi-disciplinary projects to resolve design or construction issues and to accomplish objectives.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail

Physical Conditions

• Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps
• Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods
• Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
• Adjusting, moving, transporting, installing, positioning, or removing objects up to 20 pounds in all directions
• Communicating with others to exchange information
• Walking a construction job site, sometimes multiple times a day
