We’re Impulse. We’re a team of engineers, designers, and innovators based in San Francisco who believe making good decisions for your home and the environment should not come at a cost to your lifestyle. We’re dedicated to building delightful, high-performance products for everyday needs that enable rewarding, long-term, scalable solutions for whole-home electrification.

We're looking for individuals excited to join an early-stage, VC-backed growing company with powerful aspirations to make positive change in a major industry - come build with us!

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead the development and management of annual budgeting, planning, and performance processes, periodic forecast updates, quarterly business reviews, and monthly/quarterly close processes.
  • Develop and monitor performance indicators, highlight trends, and analyze budget variance reconciliations.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data by overseeing Impulse’s accounting, payment, and reporting functions.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis and recommendations to the management team, advising on business planning assumptions, trade-offs, and scenarios to support informed strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and manage financial policies and procedures to maintain compliance and drive operational efficiency.
  • Identify and proactively mitigate financial risks through effective risk management strategies
  • Contribute to the company’s growth and expansion plans by providing financial expertise and support.

Who you are:

An Experienced FP&A Manager who can:

  • Build Impulse's FP&A operations and lead strategic discussions with executive partners in the company.
  • Work cross-functionally to drive quarterly and annual budget planning, monthly financial analysis, ad-hoc modeling, and support expense management and headcount needs.
  • Report to the Head of Operations.
  • Leverage analytical skills and attention to detail to drive high-quality and robust decisions.
  • Be a thought leader in the field.

What you have:

  • A minimum of 5 years working in FP&A, corporate finance, or investment banking within a fast-paced and dynamic company environment, preferably in the consumer electronics space or automotive industries.
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or other quantitative discipline is preferred but not required; CPA is a plus.
  • Strong financial acumen with exceptional problem-solving and modeling skills with the ability to synthesize, analyze data, extrapolate meaning, and make and justify difficult decisions; you’ll be expected (and empowered!) to make decisions for the entire organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; you will be working with a globally distributed team in different time zones and conciseness is key.
  • Experience working with a diverse set of stakeholders with a strong customer service orientation and ability to influence key functional leaders.
  • Demonstrated experience as an enthusiastic executor who can get into the details and get the job done while at the same time seeing the big picture.
  • Intellectually curious with a drive towards continuous improvement through process enhancement and change.
  • Strong time management skills, capable of project managing multiple priorities.
  • Comfort working in a Series A hardware startup with all that entails, including completing projects with minimal direct supervision; if you’re interested but unsure what life at Impulse is like, make sure to ask us all about it when you connect with us!

What’s in it for you:

  • Meaningful equity in a fast-moving company with top investors
  • Generous benefits include health, vision, dental, commuter, and fitness.
  • Help define culture for a diverse, inclusive, and global team.

We are growing quickly so if you’re interested in joining us but don’t see a job that fits what you’re looking for or if your experience doesn’t quite check all the boxes, please feel free to reach out - we’re happy to connect.

Impulse is an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and prohibit discrimination and harassment. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees where everyone feels safe and welcome.

Base salary range:

$140,000/yr - $200,000/yr
