Position Summary

The Associate Project Manager assists a project manager in planning, executing, and closing projects within established deadlines, budgets, and quality standards. This role involves coordinating and communicating with various internal and external stakeholders, monitoring project progress, and contributing to the overall success of the project. The project manager is considered the main customer facing point of contact for a given project. The Associate Project Manager will be trained by an assigned Project Manager and is expected to fill in for the Project Manager if that individual is out of the office.

Primary Job Functions

Associate Project Manager

  • Assist in the definition of project plans, scope, objectives, and timelines involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including document control logs, schedule, budgets, and reports.
  • Facilitate effective communication between project stakeholders, team members, and management.
  • Assist in preparing and distributing project status reports and updates.
  • Assist and help facilitate project meetings, capturing meeting minutes and action items.
  • Facilitate risk reviews and identify applicable project risks and escalate to the project manager. Assist in developing risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate project management tools.
  • Help track project budgets and report any budget deviations to the project manager.
  • Monitor project timelines and identify potential delays. Assist in maintaining and updating project schedules as necessary.
  • Report and escalate to management as needed.
  • Assist in managing the relationship with the client and other third-party stakeholders, including capturing meeting minutes and action items during meetings.
  • Contribute ideas for process improvement, best practices, and lessons learned. Actively contribute and manage the project improvement log for assigned projects and participate in project post-mortem activities.
  • Keep abreast of technology trends and changes in this rapidly evolving market
  • Interact with senior-level personnel as required

Job Dimensions (skills, knowledge & abilities)

We are looking for an Associate Project Manager who will assist a Project Manager manage Energy Storage Installation projects for our customers. This position will involve assisting managing a number of vendors/suppliers who will deliver large, complex subsystems (batteries, inverters, HVAC, etc.) on behalf of IHI Terrasun’s customers.

Qualifications (Education & Work Experience)

  • Proven experience as a project coordinator, project manager, or similar role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Engineering preferred)
  • Engineer: mechanical, electrical, structural with experience design projects in that discipline and supporting projects during construction in the field
  • Power plant background: we need a candidate who understand some aspect of the power industry. Solar, storage, wind are all great
  • If no power plant background, then we need a candidate who understands how construction projects in general are designed and managed.
  • Experience in energy industry.
  • Excellent communication, verbal and written skills

Tools & Equipment

  • General office equipment including phones, fax, personal computer
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project

Certificates/Licenses

  • PMI Certified (preferred)
  • PE License (preferred)

The national pay range for this role is $75,200 - $99,000 / year and is considered a Level P1 - Entry Professional Individual Contributor role. This pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, and location. In addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in an annual discretionary bonus.
