It’s been about a year and a half since we officially launched Headway Cooperative—a new kind of climate tech co-op—and we’re off to a great start! Headway provides mission-driven product development & analytics for energy-tech companies. We believe in taking an active role in Colorado’s thriving energy community, and manage to do so while being 100% team owned and operated.

Who we’re looking for:

Data Scientist / Analytics Software Engineer (2+ years relevant experience) – 110k - 135k

We’re looking to expand our team with either an analytics-minded software engineer, or a data scientist with hands-on experience building cloud software. Our ideal candidate is very comfortable working in a solution-oriented mode, and is happy to communicate directly with partners/clients when needed (they’re all lovely folks!).

Current projects may include building systems to analyze sensor data to detect methane leaks, as well as mapping out residential data to support electrification programs.

Skillset:

• Adept with using Python both for data analysis and back-end service development
• Background
• in applied mathematics, physics, or weather modeling is a huge plus.
• Otherwise, an aptitude and enthusiasm for math-ier “bottoms up” modeling
• of real-world phenomena when necessary.
• Experience working in AWS – especially lambdas and data/analytics services like S3, SageMaker, Athena, etc.
• Adept in digging into data with SQL, Pandas, or whatever tools necessary to quickly debug/examine datasets
• A strong bias towards simple software, and “buy” vs. “build”
• Passion for the energy and climate tech industry

Nice-to-haves:

• Flexible enough to work through infra and “that’s DevOps’ job” challenges
• Data engineering experience across batch and streaming needs
• Experience with JS/Typescript and React
• Experience with Java/Scala
• Fearlessness and flexibility when diving into new technologies and languages
