Job Description

You will play a vital role in translating Generate’s compensation philosophy into world-class programs that attract, motivate, and retain top talent. Partnering with Finance, Legal, the People Team, and external consultants, you will ensure our compensation programs are market-driven, well-designed, and clearly communicated. You’re quantitatively inclined, fluent in Excel, and excited about solving highly complex problems. You have a service-oriented mindset and are comfortable interfacing with Generate’s broader employee base, acting as a central source of knowledge for all things compensation.

What you will be doing at Generate Capital as the Associate, Compensation:

  • Assist in the development and execution of the company’s compensation strategy, including base salary, bonus, and long-term incentives
  • Conduct market research and benchmarking analyses to ensure competitive compensation practices, and provide recommendations on compensation trends, best practices, and industry standards
  • Support the annual compensation planning process, including data collection, analysis, and reporting findings to the Executive Team and Board of Directors
  • Partner with the People and Finance teams to prepare accurate compensation budgets and forecasts, and ensure timeline processing of equity grants, vesting, and exercise activities
  • Collaborate closely with the Talent team and senior leaders to ensure alignment between compensation and performance management processes
  • Interface directly with leaders of the business to advise on key decisions, process milestones and developments in the broader market related to compensation
  • Manage all compensation-related employee communications including FAQs
  • Develop and deliver communication materials and educational content for employees on compensation and equity programs, including developing offer letters, equity plan documents, participant guides, etc.

Candidate qualifications & core characteristics:

  • A demonstrated passion for, or commitment to, our mission
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • Ideally 4+ years of compensation experience, preferably in the financial services industry
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret compensation data and market trends
  • Proficient in using compensation benchmarking tools, HRIS systems (Workday ideally), and strong aptitude in Microsoft Excel
  • Clear and confident presentation skills; capable of conveying complex concepts across stakeholder groups
  • Strong team player, with proven ability to drive results both collaboratively and independently
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Unimpeachable integrity and glowing references
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including empathy, intuition, and listening as well as strong writing, editing, and basic design skills
  • High level of self-awareness and humility, with excitement about confronting uncomfortable situations or new challenges
  • Intellectual agility, curiosity, and creativity; problem-solving is your default mode
  • Entrepreneurial spirit: flexibility, comfort with risk, recognition that “perfect can be the enemy of the good”

Generate’s compensation packages are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Salary decisions take into account a wide variety of factors including, but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, geographic location, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $125,000-$170,000. In addition, the compensation package may include a discretionary bonus and other benefits, including health care benefits, retirement benefits, benefits permitting paid days off (including sick leave, parental leave, and paid time off or vacation benefits), and other benefits that must be reported for federal tax purposes. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of this range.
