Role

The Gencores team seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer capable of working in a fast-paced start-up environment to join our outstanding engineering team.

Your essential job responsibilities:

  • Develop electro-mechanical systems, fluidics systems and product requirements with senior management and guide a multi-disciplinary engineering team technically.
  • Efficiently create demonstration systems, progressing from concept design to prototype testing and product demonstration, meeting both internal IR&D and customer milestones while adhering to budget constraints
  • Advance electro-mechanical and fluidics systems through design gates via feasibility and trade off studies, analysis, and design reviews
  • Hold design reviews and brainstorming sessions with our cross-functional dynamic team
  • Generate best practices guidelines and documentation to enable efficiencies in current and future system developments
  • Facilitate effective communication with peers and senior management by simplifying complex technical challenges, presenting options, and providing supporting data to ensure clear and accurate recommendations

Your experience or skills:

  • Highly hands-on builder
  • Detail-oriented, analytical problem-solver with an ability to apply the first principles of structural mechanics, general physics, and heat transfer from hand calculations to FEA software analysis to inform developments and verify results
  • Appreciate delving into the intricate aspects of part design, material selection, and various manufacturing techniques.
  • Proficient in fabrication processes, including metal forming and CNC machining, injection molding, adhesives, composites, and intricate mechanisms.
  • Some programming experience in Python, MATLAB, LabView, or other data acquisition and testing experience
  • In-depth knowledge of project management and requirement management for complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills with proven capacity for PDM document control
  • Highly collaborative team player who can also work independently

Our preferred qualifications:

  • BS or MS or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering discipline
  • 10+ years of systems engineering or mechanical engineering experience
  • Experience in driving a complex electro-mecahnical systems involving material handling and fluidics from prototype to product via a phased product development cycles
  • Experience with lifecycle testing
