Role Description

We are looking for a hands-on individual to help us develop our core technology by processing battery pack tests for large-scale experimental cell builds. In this role, you will work as a part of our Technical Operations’ test team and coordinate directly with our Infrastructure and Systems Engineering teams to execute, maintain, and troubleshoot test stands for truly grid-scale batteries. The ideal candidate will be familiar with established norms around electromechanical testing and will actively seek out new methods to assist technical development. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an individual to sharpen their technical skills and lend their experience to directly impact the development of a breakthrough technology.

What you'll do:

  • Assemble, organize, and inspect test infrastructure subassemblies and integrated test systems
  • Commission and troubleshoot completed test infrastructure systems and confirm initial mechanical functionality, including validation using associated sensor readings, in collaboration with the integration and engineering teams
  • Set up and maintain inventory of common parts, Bill of Material items, and standard and specialized tools required for test system assembly
  • Troubleshoot complex test instrument issues with the internal team and vendors to expedite bring-up of our test systems
  • Document findings and testing metrics for performance traceability
  • Offer recommendations for keeping documentation up to date

What you'll bring:

  • 1 to 3 years of mechanical assembly or maintenance experience
  • Familiarity with using machine shop equipment and power tools such as saws, mills, drills, laser cutter, 3D printer
  • Ability to troubleshoot and triage mechanical issues and failures
  • Familiarity with lean concepts to maintain inventory and organize workflows
  • Written and oral communication skills within a group of peers and broader organization
  • Work under the guidance of senior personnel on the team and demonstrate team first approach
  • Comfort using digital tools. We use Asana, Slack, Confluence, and GSuite among others
