Job Description

Are you ready to rise to the challenge of climate change with the team that will deliver? Form Energy is a U.S. technology and manufacturing company that is developing and commercializing pioneering energy storage technologies to enable the electric grid to run on 100% renewable energy, every day of the year.

Supported by leading investors such as Breakthrough Energy Ventures, ArcelorMittal, TPG Rise, MIT’s The Engine, and others, we share a common belief that low-cost, multi-day energy storage is the key to enable tomorrow’s zero carbon electric grid. Driven by our core values of humanity, excellence, and creativity, we are deeply motivated and inspired to create a better world. We need talented, hardworking individuals who share our goal of tackling the challenge of climate change. Do you want to work with us today to build a better tomorrow?

Role Description

We are looking for an exceptional manufacturing engineering leader to build the mission-driven team that will enable our cell & battery manufacturing. You and your team will conceptualize, engineer, execute and launch the assembly manufacturing lines from pilot to high-volume.

As a senior leader of our advanced manufacturing organization, you’ll have an exciting opportunity to build from a blank slate, tackle the toughest company challenges, use first principles fundamentals and develop the most advanced high-volume battery manufacturing in the world.

What you'll do:

  • Build and lead a world-class manufacturing development team that will define & deploy the cell, module & battery assembly processes from prototype to high volume manufacturing.
  • Responsible for manufacturing line design, automation, vendor selection, land, launch & ramp.
  • Partner with product design & R&D teams to integrate DFM, process control & simplicity considerations to enable high volume & cost targets.
  • Engage actively with vendors to ensure Form is selecting the right technology at the right level of automation at the right price from the right partner for the scale and level of maturity of the line in question.
  • Define, develop, and implement metrology and quality control methods.
  • Own the process of handing off stable manufacturing systems to operations teams.
  • Drive PFMEA and OEE considerations as far upstream in product development as possible.
  • Densify, reduce non-value add, and achieve significant improvements from one iteration to the next.

What you'll bring:

  • 10+ years manufacturing experience, ideally, in automation and assembly environments.
  • Experience building and leading a world-class manufacturing engineering team.
  • Experience designing & building automation for high volume manufacturing applications.
  • Expertise in driving process & equipment maturity to enable high automation manufacturing.
  • Experience in championing Design For Manufacturing (DFM) & Process definition with product design & R&D teams.
  • Experience in championing the effective transition of the manufacturing systems to the operations teams.
  • Line design, installation, commissioning, and production ramp experience.
  • Experience owning the design and development of custom manufacturing equipment via internal teams and in partnership with equipment suppliers and automation vendors.
  • Demonstrated experience driving down manufacturing costs while maintaining or improving product quality for complex electromechanical assemblies.
  • B.S. or higher in engineering or physical science(s).
