Role Description

Form Energy is hiring a Commissioning Engineering Technician to support field commissioning of Form’s pilot and commercial project deployments. This role reports into the Project Engineering team within the Commercial Operations organization and will have an impact across Form’s deployed projects. As part of this team you will provide on site support during the commissioning phase of Form’s projects, bringing battery equipment online and running tests prior to customer handoff. You will work closely with internal Commissioning and Product Engineers and external customer and contractor representatives. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and be part of the growth of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and an incredible mission!

What you'll do:

  • Support the lead Commissioning Engineer in executing commissioning tasks at project sites
  • Perform light mechanical work, basic field wiring, network addressing and troubleshooting, and equipment and parts testing
  • Troubleshoot field issues during commissioning and collaborate with Product Engineering members to perform root cause analysis and deploy developed solutions
  • Develop and maintain project documentation and support the creation of project specific commissioning reports
  • Support the execution of customer witnessed performance testing and attain data to prove successful performance
  • Support the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for commissioning and performance testing tasks
  • Travel to client or project sites up to 50% of the time

What you'll bring:

  • 3 plus years of hands-on experience in energy project commissioning or performance testing
  • Demonstrated experience with SCADA communication protocols such as Modbus and DNP3 and basic network troubleshooting capabilities
  • Familiarity with common electrical components such as breakers, fuses, power supplies, and transformers and testing equipment such as multimeters, hi-pot, and insulation resistance testers
  • Knowledge of electrical safety practices with low voltage AC and high voltage DC equipment, NFPA 70E training a plus
  • Ability to understand single and three-line diagrams, P&ID diagrams, and project design drawings
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and knowledge of how to properly terminate wire, torque bolts, and interface with mechanical systems consisting of pumps, tanks, and piping
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
