Job Description

About FoodLabs

FoodLabs is a leading European early-stage VC and venture studio on a mission to build a healthier, more sustainable food system — and beyond. We invest in and co-found startups from day zero across food, health, climate, and the bioeconomy. From new protein sources to sustainable supply chains and biotech-enabled solutions, we partner with bold, science-driven founders shaping the future of how we eat and live. Our portfolio includes some of Europe’s most ambitious early-stage ventures — such as HOLY, Formo, and Klim — and we are actively expanding our presence across synthetic biology, digital platforms, carbon removal, and more.

Why this role matters

This is a high-trust, high-impact role at the core of FoodLabs. As Chief of Staff to the General Partner, you’ll act as a strategic and operational right hand, helping the GP execute across firm operations, fundraising, platform strategy, and internal alignment.

This is not a junior investor or admin role. It’s about seeing around corners, owning complex projects, and helping the fund run at its best. You’ll have visibility across the entire organisation — investment team, studio, venture development, portfolio - and play a critical role in setting and tracking priorities.

You’ll work directly with our Partners and senior leadership to help FoodLabs scale as one of Europe’s leading early-stage venture capital firms.

What drives this role

Strategic Projects

  • Act as a true right-hand to the General Partner — prepare meetings, coordinate follow-ups, and drive initiatives
  • Own and evolve a firm-wide project overview to track progress and ensure accountability
  • Develop and launch special initiatives that raise the bar at FoodLabs (e.g., an angel program, founder track, platform tooling upgrades)
  • Lead planning processes across teams — quarterly/annual goals, cross-functional coordination, and alignment tracking

Operational Excellence

  • Own meeting preparation and documentation for GP-level meetings, Investment Committee, and internal strategy reviews
  • Track meaningful fund and portfolio metrics, improve internal reporting, and drive process improvements
  • Lead or support firmwide initiatives: from team offsites to infrastructure changes and events
  • Optimise internal systems (e.g., Affinity, G-Drive hygiene, Notion, AI tooling)

Investor Relations & Fundraising

  • Work closely with the Head of Investor Relations to support LP communication, data collection, and fundraising readiness
  • Help manage data rooms, prepare decks, and support due diligence during fundraises
  • Assist in planning and executing LP events and ongoing relationship management

Platform & Community

  • Support high-impact moments for the firm: demo days, founder events, external content
  • Coordinate portfolio support services and onboarding processes
  • Help improve how we deliver value to founders, LPs, and the ecosystem

Culture & Team

  • Plan and own internal ops: team meetings, communication flow, and offsites
  • Support onboarding, team processes, and firm culture — making FoodLabs a great place to build and work

What it takes to be successful

This role demands a rare mix: strategic clarity and operational excellence, high trust and high independence, context switching and follow-through. You’ll need to understand both people and process, and be trusted with both.

You might have...

  • Worked in venture capital, startups, strategy consulting, or as a Chief of Staff to a founder, GP, or similar executive
  • Supported strategic operations, fundraising, or internal planning at a fast-moving firm or fund
  • Led complex projects or org-wide initiatives across multiple stakeholders

You definitely need to be...

  • Exceptionally organized and structured — with a bias for clarity and completion
  • A strong communicator — written, verbal, and visual
  • Comfortable with high trust, high stakes environments — and can operate with discretion and judgment
  • Entrepreneurial in mindset, but detail-obsessed when it matters
  • Obsessed with making things work better, faster, and smarter — across people, tools, and processes

What you can expect at FoodLabs

  • Daily exposure to the decision-making, pace, and priorities of a high-performance VC firm
  • The chance to help shape one of Europe’s most focused and active early-stage funds
  • Real ownership — you’ll be expected to lead, not assist
  • Access to a top-tier network of founders, LPs, partners, and advisors
  • A fast, ambitious, and builder-driven culture — with zero bureaucracy and high standards
