The company has achieved multiple industry firsts, including being the first to power a demonstration vehicle with a global OEM (Mercedes- Benz) which achieved over 1,200 km (749 mi) of range, and the first to earn UN 38.3 certification for automotive-sized lithium-metal solid-state cells, the first to deliver B-samples of automotive-sized solid-state batteries to major OEMs.
The Opportunity:
Factorial Energy is seeking a Cell Product Development Engineer to join our team in our Cheonan, South Korea, location. This person will be responsible for EV pouch and prismatic cell design and development. The ideal candidate will have experience in cell product development and be able to interpret test plans and collaborate with the development team to complete cell qualifications.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and optimize cell design, including production, validation, certification, use cases, DVP, and report templates
- Coordinate with customers regarding testing standards, plans, and schedules
- Lead mass production readiness assessments and execute DV (Design Verification) evaluations in accordance with product development milestones
- Follow up on cell testing, including conducting tests, analyzing results, resolving testing issues, and supporting the cell development team in failure analysis
- Track and interpret international standards and regulations, and benchmark against industry-leading testing standards
We are looking for people who:
- Have a Master's degree
- Have at least 3 years of relevant experience in cell development, are familiar with cell design and production, and understand testing standards and safety regulations
- Are able to quickly understand various customer requirements and possess the ability to convert requirements and write test plans
- Have strong FA, problem-solving, and data analysis capabilities
- Have strong teamwork and cross-departmental communication skills, and are able to effectively collaborate with personnel from different departments to advance testing progress
- Have an understanding of lithium battery working principles, degradation mechanisms, and influencing factors, with strong data analysis capabilities, safety awareness, and meticulous attention to data
- Are fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Have a strong sense of responsibility and dedication
