Job Description

You’ll be working with the engineering team.

This team runs on coffee with an infectious passion for building products that have never been built before. Our Flexible Energy Stack consists of the e^pack (battery pack) and e^pump (charging station) which together unlock 15-minute rapid charging.

Our philosophy: Break. Believe. Build

Break stuff. Break assumptions. Break the thumb rule.

Believe in the team. Believe in the process. Believe through failures.

Build fast. Build passionately. Build to simplify.

What you will do:

Battery packs are a dime a dozen. But a good battery pack is a work of art.

Sourcing cells is a piece of cake but building a good battery pack is differentiated by how much performance you can extract and how long you can make them last. This depends on two things: BMS and Mechanicals (Thermals and Structural).

The thermals on our battery pack are critical — they set apart our battery with respect to consistency (remember we rapid charge 4C against the usual 0.5C. Heat emitted is I2R – you can do the math ). The structural part of the pack ensures it works continuously and reliably on Indian roads and in all types of environmental conditions (dust, underwater, speed breakers etc)

The Mechanical Team that Solves the above problems is your product. Your main focus is to define and build the Mechanical Team for Exponent. Everything from People, Process, Technical Training , Finding Gaps in knowledge, Hiring is part of the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Mechanical Teams
  • Own Engineering + Quality + Hiring + Team building
  • Manage communication with internal and external resources, like supply chain, process engineering and test validation teams
  • Building capabilities in team across various domains of mechanical Engineering - Thermal, structural, DFX
  • Get. Set. Production. Take all of it to production
  • Responsible for team training and hiring
  • Own team morale and culture
  • Evaluate Project budgets and resource allocation.

The ideal candidate requires:

  • 8+ years of experience in product development with successful product cycles
  • Experience in taking Electro mechanical components from Concept to Production (Design, Analysis, and DFX)
  • Experience in leading and building a product development team
  • Expert in material selection and component selection
  • Hands-on experience with optimising Mechanical packaging for weight & volume, and cost.
  • Experience in creating Efficient teams

What matters:

  • Quality of work
  • Approach towards problem-solving
  • Dissatisfaction towards mediocre work
  • Resilient attitude to bounce back after failing
