Job Description

“EnerVenue is building the batteries we need for grid-scale storage.” - Forbes

Launched in 2020 and now backed by $125,000,000 in Series A funding, we are quickly scaling our unique (but well-proven) grid-scale batteries for the world’s clean energy present and future. Our metal hydrogen batteries advance technology that has, until now, only been used in aerospace applications like the Hubble Space Telescope and International Space Station. EnerVenue’s technology brings game-changing differentiation to the stationary energy storage sector: unique durability, flexibility, safety, with cradle-to-cradle environmental and full local supply chain capabilities. Come join the clean energy revolution as part of a category-defining company.

With funding and new deals with energy companies like Schlumberger, we want you to join our expanding team to build a Gigafactory and put our technology to work for customers and partners across the world. Now is the time to join EnerVenue.

We’re excited to hear from you. It’s an exciting time for clean energy, and an especially exciting moment to join us at EnerVenue.

EnerVenue is looking for a Battery Test Engineer to join our growing start-up company. You will be responsible for testing electrochemical cells, battery packs and systems for advanced energy storage applications as a member of the Product Engineering team.

Requirements:

  • Hold an MS/PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics or a related field, coupled with over 3 years of industry experience in reliability, quality control, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) of batteries.
  • Possess proficiency in data tools such as Python, SQL, and other statistical analysis software.
  • Hands-on experience in building various types of battery cells, including different chemistries and form factors.
  • Expertise in testing battery cells, including aging and performance evaluation.
  • Previous experience in a production setting is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead DFMEA efforts for EnerVenue’s cell products, focusing on testing and production data analysis.
  • Identify key degradation and failure modes, driving root cause analysis using data, reliability, and statistical frameworks to enhance our product knowledge base.
  • Collaborating with various cross-functional teams to develop and implement statistical, analytical, and experimental plans to gain a deeper insight into failure modes occurring at different stages of cell life, from production to end-of-life testing.
  • Take responsibility for identifying, escalating, and managing critical quality issues, and initiate the process of identifying root causes, leveraging cross-functional collaboration and delegation when necessary. Collaborate closely with production engineers to assess production processes and collaborate with cell design/R&D groups to evaluate material and electrochemical methods and knowledge.
  • Conduct in-depth root cause analysis of degradation and failure modes from a testing and reliability standpoint.
  • Advocate for, suggest, and coordinate Design of Experiments (DOEs) for hypothesis testing, process modifications, specification development, and validation in cell production and quality processes.

Salary Range:

$174,540 - 205,768
