Eclipse Foods is building the future of dairy using micelles (the microscopic magic of milk.) Eclipse has developed the world's firstplant-based dairy tech platform_which makes plant-based products that are indistinguishable from conventional dairy._ We are transforming the $500B dairy industry and are the team behind JUST Mayo, have chef’d/ staged at 16 Michelin stars, and are alt-protein experts. We’ve raised over $50M from leading investors such as Y Combinator, the chairman of Beyond Meat, the founder of Reddit, the creator of Gmail, Forerunner Ventures, Sozo Ventures, Initialized Capital, and more. Our mission is to create a more sustainable, healthy, and humane food system by making amazing plant-based foods that require no sacrifice.

Eclipse is seeking a Director of Operations to join our team and own operations to support the growth of our business. You will work directly with the founders and Eclipse leadership team to implement our organizational vision with your expertise in operational strategy and execution. You will drive all things operations, from logistics and supply chain to co-manufacturing, quality assurance, and customer service.
As the Director of Operations, you will have the unique opportunity to directly impact Eclipse’s operations and implement enhancements to our systems and processes.

Who are you?

  • 10+ Relevant years of full scope Supply Chain / Operations experience working in start-up food CPG companies.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field.
  • Expertise in food and consumer packaged goods required, cold chain strongly preferred
  • A highly driven operations leader with a playbook for creating and managing the operational foundation, processes, infrastructure, and team to drive rapid and efficient scaling in a food startup
  • A low-ego executor who is excited to roll up their sleeves to solve complex and messy problems in fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • A results-oriented and data-driven leader who aggressively drives to resolve issues/challenges to the benefit of the enterprise
  • Possess a solid understanding of innovations in the manufacturing process and knowledge of best practices and quality standards
  • Possess strong business acumen with demonstrated understanding of the financial aspects of operations and supply chain, and what levers to pull to drive change
  • Have a robust rolodex of and direct experience with managing co-packers, freight brokers and carriers, warehouses, ingredient suppliers, and other operational partners
  • Have strong planning, project management, and execution skills, and the ability to build and manage complex systems and processes
  • Equally comfortable with big-picture strategic planning and the small details of tactical execution and have no trouble switching between macro and micro views
  • Have an ownership mindset and are a strategic thinker. Setting goals and priorities, creating and executing plans, measuring KPIs and metrics, and aligning tactics with key results are all in your wheelhouse
  • An intelligent and articulate individual with strong collaboration and interpersonal skills who focuses on teamwork and can relate to and motivate people at all levels of an organization with an empathetic approach
  • Experience with electronic inventory management systems
  • Able to execute on today’s challenges while maintaining a forward-thinking mindset around where we’ll be six months, a year, and several years from now.
  • Exceptional communication skills; ability to identify and clearly present operational challenges, solutions, and results to all levels of management and stakeholders with a maniacal attention to detail.

What will you do?

  • Work directly with the C-suite to aggressively drive improvements in operational architecture and cross-functional communication to achieve top-line and bottom-line targets.
  • Build, own, and foster long-term relationships with co-manufacturers, 3PLs, ingredient, packaging, and other partners, driving accountability, negotiating terms, and ensuring QA standards are upheld.
  • Continue to build the foundational components and infrastructure to scale and achieve margin targets, setting up the organization for future growth.
  • Evaluate company’s operational structure to plan for continual improvements and a continual increase of operating efficiencies.
  • Lead the supply chain function on inventory management and cost accounting in close collaboration with finance. Simplify inventory tracking for accounting needs.
  • Provide operational leadership, driving hypergrowth while maintaining our strong culture.
  • Set, track, and own department Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and report them regularly to leadership
  • Role will interact with multiple stakeholders across functions including 3rd parties, driving accountability with all.
  • Model and foster the culture, values, and mission of Eclipse.
  • Travel expectation - up to 25% of time

This is a full-time position with a hybrid work environment (remote permitted one day per week). Our headquarters and new R&D labs and pilot plant are located in Alameda, CA, where we offer free gym & on-site Peloton access, kayak & paddle board rentals, on-site parking, public transit shuttles, and more. The company also offers a 401K company match, flexible PTO, office snacks, team lunch on Fridays, company paid subscription to Headspace, and more.

Annual base salary range: $130,000 - $180,000 + equity options.

The above represents the expected annual salary for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining our salary ranges, we consider skills, location, experience, and other job-related factors, while balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company.

Authorization to work in the U.S. is required; we do not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
